Well, who saw this move coming from the Scottish synth-pop outfit?

Their new release - Out of My Head - melds genres by featuring J-Pop act Wednesday Campanella.

The track's verses are delivered in Japanese, while Chvrches singer Lauren Mayberry (above) comes in on the (English) choruses.

The anime-led music video adds another J-Pop staple.

Chvrches have just completed a Japanese tour which culminated with a show at Tokyo’s Fuji Rock festival.

Deliah Montague has just got the party started with a composed performance on the main stage.

The piano starlet (above) doesn't look half as "terrified" as she told our reporter Kev Geoghegan she would be earlier - does she?

She can relax and enjoy the rest of the festival now after a job well done.

Dan Owen then belted out his tunes on the same stage.

Dan Owen, one of our feature Newbie Tuesday artists, is another musician making his debut at the event at the Cornbury Park event.

Though he swears he's been here before.

"I've got a feeling I've been on that stage before, I think that stage has been around for quite a while," he reckons.

"I only recognise it from the back, it's got the big silver thing going on. It will be good to get out there.

"Its a big stage though. I don't often get to play on them that big. It's nice."

Dan will be playing songs from his debut album, Stay Awake With Me, which is due out at the end of the month.

    1) Kendrick Lamar is now an actor

Compton rapper Kendrick made his acting debut in Sunday's night's episode of the US TV drama Power, which also stars fellow hip-hop artist 50 Cent.

Kendrick played a homeless man, trying to sell Fiddy some gift cards outside a shop.

The story escalated pretty quickly, though, as Ken assisted the New York rap star in setting up an assassination.

    2) Skepta posted a baby pic

London grime star Skepta triggered speculation he was about to become a dad after posting an ultrasound pic on his Instagram.

If you look closely, you can see the scan is labelled "Baby Adenuga" - which is, of course, Skepa's surname.

The 35-year-old has been romantically linked to London supermodel Naomi Campbell, 48 after posing with her on the cover of GQ earlier this year.

But Campbell shot down the rumours as only she can... by posting a bikini picture, showing off her washboard stomach, external.

She later unfollowed Skepta's Instagram account. Ouch!

    3) Rihanna loves her new 'thicc' figure

Rihanna donned a series of avant-garde outfits - and had her eyebrows removed/airbrushed - on the cover of British Vogue.

Speaking to the fashion bible about her body image, the Bajan singer said she "never wants to lose her butt, hips and thighs".

Asked about being a pin-up, Rihanna said: "You're asking the wrong person. I don't know, maybe it's because I'm 'thicc' now. I don't know.

    Quote Message

I'm about to get back into the gym and stuff, and I hope I don't lose my butt or my hips or all of my thighs. I'll lose some but not all.

"But, you know, it comes with a price. You want to have a butt, then you have a gut."

We'll consider this over a chip butty later.

    4) Foo Fighter Dave Grohl is to release a 23 minute song next week

Dave Grohl is hoping to encourage Foo Fighters fans to start making their own music by releasing a 23-minute instrumental track, on which he plays seven different instruments.

The track, entitled Play, will arrive alongside a two part mini-documentary next Friday, 10 August.

Inspired by his kids, Dave posted a tease (above) of him playing guitar, bass, keys, drums and more alongside a message about the joys of challenging yourself to play musical instruments at any age.

He wrote: "I see these rooms of children pushing themselves to figure this out.

"As a 49-year-old man, I’m still trying to figure it out. Always chasing the next challenge, trying to find a way to improve on what you’ve learned."

Watch above - but if Dave hasn't mastered it by now then, frankly, we're all in trouble.

    5) Slaves 'auditioned' for a new drummer

After announcing their split on Monday, the Kent punk duo then shared the new video for their Hottest Record, titled Chokehold, explaining it had all been an hilarious prank.

The video imagines guitarist Laurie interviewing replacements for drummer Isaac - with a bunch of "celeb" drummers (including Ben from Royal Blood, Amber from Hinds and Blur's Dave Rowntree) all vying for the job.

The audition even features the famous drumming Gorilla from the Cadbury's ad.

The 19-year-old from south London released her debut EP in 2017 and admits she is "still quite new to the festival circuit".

"I've learned it's just about having fun. There's always going to be people in the back doing their thing but if you're having fun, it doesn't matter what you're singing about, they're going to be having fun.

Alexandra Burke and Matt Cardle chat about life after the singing contest.

Alexandra Burke and Matt Cardle have been chatting to BBC Radio 2 brekky show host Chris Evans this morning about the difficulties of keeping a pop career going after winning shows like the X Factor.

Alexandra is now performing in the West end musical, Chicago, while Matt has replaced Will Young in Strictly Ballroom the Musical.

Burke took the X Factor crown back in 2008 and Cardle was champ two years later.

The pair admit that the time has flown by since but agree that the title is only the start of the journey.

"It does fly," said Matt. "It all depends how hard your prepared to work afterwards.

"More fool anyone to get a break like that and to think it gets any easier, it gets about 12 times harder, do you know what I mean?"

Alexandra knows exactly what he means.

    She added:

    Quote Message

I've always said that, for the three months you're on the show you're in ever paper and everything happens.

But the moment the show ends is when it all really begins.

Wirral psych rockers The Coral have gone acoustic once more on their new track, After the Fair.

The UK garage-inspired song is taken from his forthcoming mixtape, Bangers & Ballads, which is out on 17 August.

Example - real name Elliot John Gleave - said he went back to basics this time around in order to "stop over analysing things"

Perhaps a metaphor for the pop music industry?

The Chase gameshow host, Bradley Walsh became the biggest-selling debut UK singer of 2016 when he released his album of songbook classics.

Could pop prince Justin now go the other way and become the new gameshow king.

Johnny Marr has been discussing his harmonica performance on Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds' latest single, If Love is the Law.

The Phil Spector-esque track is taken from Noel's Mercury-Prize nominated "cosmic pop" album, Who Built the Moon?, on which Marr was required to add some mouth organ magic - as he did previously with his old band The Smiths.

"Someone said to me, 'What you doing?'

"I said, 'I'm working with Noel,'" he explained.

"You don't have to say Gallagher anymore, you just say Noel.

"So he's become one of those people who just have the one name now... like Madonna."

Gallagher Snr was quick to return the compliment to the guitarist, who has an other-worldly album of his own out at the moment.

"An album of mine wouldn't be an album of mine without Johnny Marr being involved in it."

An animated Zayn pulls off a near-perfect moonwalk in the new video for his collab with US super-producer Timbaland.

The former One Direction singer, who now lives in New York, is set to release his second solo album later this year and Too Much is the latest cut from it.

The 25-year-old delivers his trademark falsetto while his cartoon alter ego dances around and Timbaland tests out the suspension on his car in the background (we wouldn't recommend it).

Sadly due to the language we can't bring the full video here but you can check out a sample above.

  17. Drake's new video has fans in a range of their feelingspublished at 09:28 BST 3 August 2018

Drizzy has just released a cinematic video for his UK number single, In My Feelings.

Shot in New Orleans, it shows the grill-toothed Toronto singer showing off his acting skills once again, by throwing stones at the bedroom window of the one that he wants - Kiki, of course - before being chased along by her mother.

    We've all been there Drake.

The video features cameos by Lala Anthony, Big Freedia, Phylicia Rashad and US comedian Shiggy - who gets jiggy on a bus.

As well as dominating the charts both side of the Atlantic, the track caused a stir when police in the US had to warn people not to get out of their moving vehicles to dance to it, as part of a viral dance craze.

One man was seen being hit by a car while attempting the dance but managed to walk away with just a few cuts and bruises.

The end of the video - which we can't bring you here due to inappropriate language - shows a collection of those fans' dancing efforts.

Don't try this at home, folks.

Reaction to the eight-minute-long clip has been pretty positive so far.
