    Monsters out there will know Gaga is taking to the big screen, in Bradley Cooper's directorial debut, A Star is Born.

  4. Bloc Party's Kele Okereke set for musical debutpublished at 15:15 BST 5 September 2018

    Bloc Party frontman Kele Okereke has announced he has written songs for a new musical.

    Leave to Remain, co-written by Okereke and composer Matt Jones tells the story of “a young gay couple suddenly faced with an uncertain future, told through a mixture of music, drama and movement”.

    “For the music for this project I took cues from the records that my parents would play in our house when I was growing up, West African high-life music, and I tried to combine those sounds with the electronic dance music I hear in clubs today.

    “It was important to me to make something that represented the meeting of two very different worlds.”

    The musical will open in January at London’s Lyric Hammersmith.

    The eight-time Grammy winner is to be honoured as the 2019 MusiCares Person of the Year.

    She is being presented with the award "for her considerable creative accomplishments and her longtime support of a number of causes through her Dollywood Foundation".

    "Dolly Parton has always been and continues to be a courageous trailblazer and indomitable inspiration for creators and artists," said Recording Academy president Neil Portnow,

    "So for us to have the opportunity to honour her... is to pay tribute to a true pillar of strength and someone who we all look up to and cherish,"

    Dolly said she is "excited and humbled".

    Proceeds from the event will go to the charity which provides support and healthcare for musicians."

    As we head into autumn, you may well find yourselves dreaming of the long hot summer (when you went to see Mamma Mia 2, and it was bloomin' brilliant).

    Well, the team behind the film can't transport you to Greece, but they can transport you to the O2.

    Mamma Mia! The Party, an immersive Abba restaurant is being brought to London, external by Bjorn and Benny themselves.

    A similar set up has been a sell-out attraction in Stockholm for the last three years.

    Apparently you can "spend a magical summer evening with friends in a special Greek island taverna".

    On the Greenwich Peninsula.

    Or you could just head to your local kebab restaurant on the high street and sing some Abba songs after a few shots of ouzo.

  7. 'Zoo symphony' coming to BBC Radio 3published at 14:31 BST 5 September 2018

    A symphony of lions, monkeys and llamas will help send Radio 3 listeners into a state of "quiet mindfulness," the station's controller has said.

    The broadcast, recorded at dusk in an unnamed zoo, will be part of a new, regular "slow radio" show.

    "You'll hear the sounds of lions going to sleep," said Radio 3's Alan Davey. "Dusk is an exciting time for noises in zoos - as it is in most places."

    He said Radio 3 should be an antidote to "the frenzy of everyday life".

    "If what I went through, I did with a man, you're gonna hear it from that perspective, ‘cause I just love souls."

    After months of back-and-forth feuding, more commonly known as 'beef', it's Kanye who has extended a very public olive branch to Drake, in a series of tweets.

    Kanye said they were “building as friends and brothers” and added, “I should have spoken to Pusha about the Quentin Miller bar. There should have been more songs with my involvement that had any negative energy towards you.”

    In case you're wondering, that's Pusha T, the rapper whose album Kanye produced, and who released two intense diss tracks - Infrared and The Story of Adidon - aimed at Drake earlier this year. One of these outed Drake’s secret son.

  12. Mel B faces drug and alcohol testing in custody casepublished at 12:06 BST 5 September 2018

    A week after revealing that she will be entering rehab for PTSD, its been ruled by an LA Superior Court that Mel B will undergo random drug and alcohol testing as part of the custody arrangement for the daughter she shares with her ex-husband Stephen Belafonte.

    Mel is involved in an ongoing legal battle with her ex over the custody of their seven-year-old daughter, Madison.

    On Friday, her daughter's former childminder alleged Mel was an unfit mother, arguing her children were at risk due to her drinking.

    As part of their joint custody agreement, neither Mel or her ex can take drugs or alcohol eight hours before they look after Madison, or during their time with her.

    The judge said Madison will remain with Belafonte until Thursday, and has ordered a "full-scale evaluation."

    Michael Dapaah, the comedian behind Big Shaq, has been honoured at the GRM Daily Rated Awards - winning personality of the year.

    Accepting his award, the comedian behind Man's Not Hot said: "Don't let anyone stop you from what you want to do."

    He added: "Big up to the females in this category and all the other entertainers, big up yourself, this one's for you."

    Meanwhile rapper-turned TV personality Big Narstie has defended controversial drill music.

    Speaking on the red carpet, Big Narstie said it was "100% percent unfair" that drill was being blamed for a surge in violence in London.

    "It's a scapegoat, isn't it? If cowboy films started making everyone start shooting guns, would they ban John Wayne?" he asked.

    "Drill has a lot about it but it's the truth. It's what's happening out there. You can't ask these kids to talk about living in a stable household if they don't."

    The Radiohead frontman released new track, Suspirium, from the upcoming score, which will be timed with the release of Luca Guadagnino's remake of the 1977 classic Suspiria, on 26 October.

    The track features the melodic theme that recurs throughout the film and its score.

    Writing on Twitter, he said, external: "The music I composed... has now become an album I’m very proud of.

    "I hope you like it."

    The Suspiria album will consist of 25 original compositions written by Thom, with a mix of instrumental score work, interstitial pieces and interludes, and well as more traditional songs.

    The Independent Music Awards were held in London on Wednesday Night.

    Organised by the Assiociation of Independent Music, the ceremony provides the opportunity for some of the UK's smaller labels and their rosters the chance to shine.

    The evening was dominated by women artists, with Jorja Smith winning breakthrough of the year and LA singer/songwriter Phoebe Bridgers winning the international equivalent.

    Everything But the Girl's Tracey Thorn was honoured for her Outstanding Contribution to music and admitted her career had been bolstered by collaborations (above)

    Nadine Shah seemed shocked to have the best album for her acclaimed Holiday Destination.

    "It was a total honour," she told our reporter Paul Glynn.

    If you bought tickets for Childish Gambino's upcoming This is America Tour, you were in for a treat last night, as Mr Glover himself emailed out two exclusive new tracks to fans.

    The email states the songs are "not complete" but adds "it is important for u to be familiar with them in order to participate, and therefore fully enjoy the experience."

    He stresses that the songs should be kept "within our community" and not leaked online.

    The songs are called Algorhythm and All Night, and it's safe to say his fans were impressed with the new music.

    The French popstar has been talking about her mood board which she used to help create her forthcoming album, Chris.

    She told Jo Whiley on Radio 2: "Leonardo in Romeo and Juliet was a huge inspiration, the mood board was deliciously intricate like soundwise it was late 80s, early 90s and visually I wanted it to be a bit cinematic like West Side Story".

    It's fair to say Nicki Minaj isn't happy fellow rapper Travis Scott beat her to the top spot in the US album charts.

    In an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Ellen congratulated Nicki on the success of her new album Queen, but added Nicki seemed "upset" about going in at number 2, behind Travis.

    "Why do people say things like 'upset' or angry'? When someone says how they feel, they're not always upset or angry," Nicki bemoaned.

    "Well, what were you feeling?" Ellen asked, to which Nicki replied, "I felt like I wanted to punch him in his [bleep] face!"

    Ed Sheeran's promoter is being sued by ticket reseller Viagogo for allegedly defrauding music fans.

    Viagogo claims Stuart Galbraith's firm, Kilimanjaro Live, set up fake Viagogo stalls during Mr Sheeran's 2017 tour where it voided genuine tickets and told fans to buy new ones.

    Mr Galbraith described Viagogo's allegations as "totally false".

    Viagogo's move is the latest in a long-running feud between artists and their promoters and ticket resellers.
