Lofty ambitions indeed from the Detroit bluesman.

We haven't had a full length album from Jack since 2014's Lazaretto, so he's well overdue one.

In an interview with his favourite actor Gary Oldman, the former White Stripes, Raconteurs and Dead Weather man revealed he's working on the follow-up and that once ready, it will provide the perfect soundtrack to household chores and DIY.

Oh and some more menacing past-times too.

Earlier this year, Kelsea Ballerini got to go to the Grammys for the first time.

The 24-year-old was up for best new artist, and scheduled to perform with Lukas Graham - but she was still a little star-struck.

"My mum was my date - and we were both sitting there fan-girling like, 'Oh my God, that's Adele! Don't look! Don't look!'"

Awkward celebrity encounters aside, Ballerini has been living in a fairytale for the last few years.

She released her debut album, The First Time, in 2015 and watched its first three singles go to number one on Billboard's country airplay chart - an historic achievement for a female artist.

The bubbly, vivacious melodies and autobiographical lyrics of Love Me Like You Mean It, external and Peter Pan, external won comparisons to Taylor Swift who quickly befriended the artist (she calls Ballerini her "little sis") and invited her onto her 1989 world tour.

That led to her Grammy appearance and, at next week's Country Music Association Awards, a nomination for female artist of the year.

All told, it's turned out pretty well for someone who was shunned by the establishment when she first arrived in Nashville.

The rockers' new album Scream Above The Sounds was heading for the top of the album charts last we heard (guess we'll have to wait until tomorrow night to find out).

Now, Stereophonics are celebrating potentially landing a seventh #1 album by booking two big stadium gigs in their native Wales for next summer.

They'll play Wrexham's Racecourse Ground on Saturday 2 June, then head south for a big gig in the capital at the Cardiff City Stadium the following weekend.

You asked us to set you a reminder about the next Taylor Swift single.

Well Taylor has beaten us to it.

She's apparently posted some of the lyrics to new track Call It What You Want, which drops later tonight. We'll have that and more new music in tomorrow's Music News LIVE, of course.

The third cut from her forthcoming album, follows lead singles What You Made Me Do and Ready For It? and contains the lyrics:

"Holding my breath / Slowly I said / You don't need to save me / But would you run away with me? Yes"

If you have never seen Lana perform it live, then bad luck as the singer has confirmed she will no longer perform her song Cola.

The song appeared on Lana's 2012 Paradise EP and contains some of her most explicit lyrics and is apparently about someone like the now disgraced movie mogul giving gifts to a young star.

"When I wrote that song, I suppose I had like a Harvey Weinstein/Harry Winston type of character in mind," she told MTV.

"I envisioned, like, a benevolent, diamond-bestowing-upon-starlets visual, like a Citizen Kane or something.

"I thought it was funny at the time, and I obviously find it really sad now," she added.

Blackpool singer-songwriter Rae Morris was in the Live Lounge earlier and performed her latest single Do It and picked for her cover...well...she only went and mashed up the current UK number one and two singles with electropop covers of Post Malone's Rockstar and Camila Cabello's Havana.

To top it, she even added a little Talking Heads's Psycho Killer.

Talk about taking a creative risk, but did it pay off?

Sam Smith is the latest singing star to sit in a car with James Corden.

After jumping in the passenger seat 'for a lift' (why do they still this as a set up?) and a rendition of his track Too Good At Goodbyes the pair go on to discuss their respective battles with weight loss.

James jokes that Sam, whose second album The Thrill of it All is out tomorrow, appears to be winning his.

But stay tuned and watch what happens at around 13 minutes in. 13 is unlucky for some but clearly not Sam, who is indeed thrilled to find one of his favourite bands Fifth Harmony piling into the back seats.

"Oh my God this is my dream!" says a star-struck Sam, totally losing his cool in the moment but in an incredibly endearing Englishman abroad manner.

He pulled it together again for a duet of their track Work From Home.

Georgian/British singer/songwriter Katie Melua has recorded Fields Of Gold, one of Sir Terry Wogan's favourite songs, as this year's official Children in Need single.

Unveiling the song, Melua said it was a "privilege" to pay tribute to the broadcaster by supporting the charity "that was so dear to his heart".

"I hope it goes on to make a real and lasting difference to the lives of disadvantaged children across the UK."

So, Noel Gallagher debuted his song She Taught Me How To Fly on Jools on Tuesday night and then again at a full gig at York Hall in London on Wednesday night (scroll down for our review)

On both occasions, he was joined by his new band member, the scissors-playing Charlotte.

We're not sure what she adds to the song but Noel clearly has big plans for her.

But he isn't the first musician to include some bizarre (and possibly a little bit pointless) noises on record.

Part of the appeal of singer-songwriter Regina Spektor is her ability to make lots of amazing noises vocally.

As if conquering the pop world while raising a family isn't enough of a workload, Beyonce is now set to star in the Disney remake of The Lion King.

Bey will voice the role of lioness Nala, next to lead character Simba, played by Donald Glover aka Childish Gambino.

Beyonce confirmed on Facebook, external that her long-rumoured involvement in the project was in fact true.

Close your eyes and you just hear Beyonce singing Shadow Land already...

Her other co-stars include Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar and Seth Rogan as Pumba the warthog, while James Earl Jones will play Mufasa, as he did in the 1994 animated original.

Noel Gallagher used his sharp wit to cut critics of his band's new scissor player down to size, while debuting psychedelic new tunes at his first proper UK gig since the release of eyebrow-raising latest single Holy Mountain, external last night.

The latest member of the High Flying Birds lineup caused a stir online by playing jazz scissors during a live TV performance of Noel's new track She Taught Me How To Fly, on Tuesday's Later... with Jools Holland.

Obviously plenty of Oasis fans were keen to see what brother Liam, who performed in Newcastle last night, made of Noel's new office stationary-psych direction.

Naturally, he decided to raise the stakes.

Not to be deterred in his quest to "soar like an eagle", Noel was backed once again by his own scissor sister Charlotte at the special one-off gig at York Hall in east London.

While introducing the band mid-set, Noel declared: "This girl played the scissors for the first time on television. Legend!

"This is cutting edge [stuff]!" joked the 50-year-old before launching into his aforementioned trippy love song.

The gig was being filmed for Apple's new documentary, On the Record: Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds - Who Built The Moon? ahead of the release of his experimental David Holmes produced third album, with arrives on 24 November.

It saw the legendary boxing venue adopt airport-style security on arrival, which included punters being asked to put their phones in secure pouches to prevent additional filming.

"Did you need your passport?," quipped Noel. "There’s half an hour time difference in here!"

Earlier, Belfast producer Holmes set the tone for the evening with an alternative DJ set of Rolling Stones / Velvet Underground / Can remixes.

Then, backed by a brass trio, Noel's ever-expanding (and increasingly female) HFB's - which included former Oasis guitarist Gem Archer - kicked off with with the glam-psych stomp of the forthcoming album's lead single and then went straight into another new track It's a Beautiful World.

Five new tracks in total were chopped up, amongst favourites from his last solo album Chasing Yesterday and the inevitable offering of four Oasis classics.

"These next two songs don’t need any introduction" said Noel before launching into Little by Little from his old band's 2002 album Heathen Chemistry and a beautifully re-worked version of Champagne Supernova, with the band leader on acoustic guitar and drummer Chris Sharrock (formerly of Oasis and The La's) gently shaking a tambourine.

Noel largely gave himself the choruses off during the Oasis numbers, handing over singing duties to the delighted audience. He's had plenty of practice doing this of late, to crowds of delirious South Americans, while supporting U2 on their world tour.

It's a fair trade off on the night with a setlist finely balanced between modern renditions of his celebrated rock 'n' roll past and his avant-garde present/near future.

"Don’t try and sing along to this one, because you don’t know the words," he commands, ahead of two more new tracks Be Careful What You Wish For and Black & White Sunshine.

Half The World Away is given a joyous run-out followed shortly afterwards by an equally cathartic acoustic rendition of his "anthem for defiance" Don't Look Back In Anger, which has taken on a new lease of life after being sang spontaneously at a wake for the victims of the Manchester attacks.

The intimate crowd was sent away to the dance vibes of AKA... What a Life! from his 2011 debut solo album.

With Liam set to perform for Radio 2 In Concert tonight and then appear on Googlebox with their mum Peggy on Friday night, all we need now is a DJ set from the other brother Paul and we'll have reached peak Gallagher for the first time since 1995.

The younger sibling may be back in the fast lane, having driven his rocking debut solo album As You Were to the top of the charts recently, but Noel it seems is on a higher plane with his new material - having finally learnt how to fly.

She may not have released an album this year, but Ri Ri's never been bigger. Wild Thoughts, external, her collaboration with DJ Khaled, was one of the songs of the summer; while her new beauty line was valued at $72m in the space of a month.

Her costume for the Crop Over festival in Barbados almost broke the internet; and she's taken a starring role in the all-female reboot of Ocean's Eleven.

Now she's delivered one of the finest performances with Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo on their comeback single.
