The British soul star and his new bezzie, former Fifth Harmony singer Normani, have shared a typically upbeat video for their track Dancing With A Stranger.

Lots of shots of Sam moping in a darkened hallway, moping on a couch, by a lake, in an armchair.

In his defence, he tries a brief bit of dancing around halfway in, before reverting back to his classic mope.

Normani also mopes but ups the dance quota significantly.

Maroon 5 have been keeping plans for their half-time show at the Super Bowl in Atlanta under wraps, but a number of rehearsal photographs have been posted on social media ahead of the big show on Sunday.

Among them is a short clip with Levine and local talent, OutKast legend Big Boi, who will join the group for the performance along with rapper Travis Scott.

"There's top secret things going out here on the west coast," BB says, in the clip.

Unlike previous years, Maroon 5 were not confirmed as the half-time performers until two weeks ago and have done virtually no press ahead of their set this weekend, despite it being hailed one of the biggest gigs in the world.

More than 100 million people watched Justin Timberlake's 2018 show.

But it's been rumoured big stars - including Rihanna and Cardi B - refused to perform on the show because ofthe National Football League's stance over some players refusing to standwhen the US national anthem is played.

The south London duo, who we featured in a Newbie Tuesday slot in November, are heading out on their biggest headline tour to date on 4 February in Leeds.

The band have just released their single Sickness and you can check out a new live recording above.

Issy and Archie are also heading to the SXSW festibal in Texas in March, as part of Steve Lamacq’s BBC Music Showcase.

A forthcoming concert in London by the late French composer and musician will instead become a tribute concert following his death at the weekend.

He was due to perform at the Royal Festival Hall on 20 September with the Ronnie Scott's Jazz Orchestra.

In a statement, Fane Productions - who are putting on the show - said: "It is no more than four months since Michel’s unforgettable concert with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, also at the Royal Festival Hall, co-produced by Fane Productions and Ronnie Scott’s.

"Aged 86, and certainly physically and vocally a little frail, Michel nonetheless conducted the 68-piece orchestra and rhythm section with total assurance, and his genius at the piano was as evident as ever."

The concert in September will now see the orchestra and special guests, still to be announced, pay musical tribute to Legrand.

Massive Attack have kicked off their Mezzanine anniversary tour in Glasgow.

The Bristolian trip hoppers performed their seminal 1998 album at the SSE Hydro - with visuals provided by filmmaker Adam Curtis.

They were joined on vocals by Cocteau Twins' Liz Fraser and covered tracks by The Velvet Underground and The Cure.

While some fans delighted in "a show bathed with aural/visual joy", external, others on Twitter bemoaned "the high school grade video art project that was on for most of the show" complaining that it "felt like a party political broadcast, external for the dumb".

The band will continue their UK tour at Manchester Arena on Tuesday.

The line-up for Green Man Festival , external2019 - held in the Brecon Beacons - has been revealed.

It includes Four Tet, Idles, Father John Misty and Sharon Van Etten (above).

The festival runs from 15-18 August.

“It’s great to be doing the Saturday night Mountain Stage slot at Green Man 2019!” said Four Tet.

“I first played Green Man in 2004 and have always had good times there.”

Meanwhile, a bunch of new artists have joined the bill for The Great Escape in Brighton.

They include grime star AJ Tracey, rapper Mykki Blanco, Yves Tumor and former Newbie Tuesday Lewis Capaldi.

At the tender age of 19, born-and-bred east London singer-songwriter Malika Hamzaa has already scratched off one of her stuff-to-do bucket list.

In October last year, she appeared on Later... with Jools Holland on BBC Two.

"It happened so naturally, " Hamzaa explains, from a rehearsal studio in west London. "Their booker heard me on 1Xtra, on DJ Target's show, and said they really liked the song.

"And that was it, I got booked."

And the impact from her soulful performance (which you can watch above) was almost instantaneous.

"On YouTube, some of the comments were like, 'Hey from Pakistan,' or 'Love from India,' or, 'Heard you on a German show'.

"After Jools Holland, my show sold out in two days. I didn’t think I would sell out a show for a year, it’s crazy."

Hamzaa, who is now known by her surname, took the creative decision to shorten her name fairly recently after a case of mistaken identity.

"I kept getting mistaken for this other girl called Malika, she’s also a black R&B singer so it’s not hard to mistake us.

"I went to a studio session one time and someone said, 'I heard that song you did with Snakehips,' and I said: 'I didn’t do a song with Snakehips... so... that’s awkward'.

"I said to my team, 'How about just Hamzaa?'. And it stuck, so even people who know me just call me Hamzaa."

Growing up in a household dominated by artists like Luther Vandross, Craig David, Johnny Gill and Michael Jackson, Hamzaa began playing the piano at the age of just three.

But more than 15 years later, she admits she still can't read sheet music.

"A family friend gave me the books and taught me the songs but I couldn’t read the music, so I would learn them by ear and memorise them. If I got anything wrong, I would go and try and find the individual note.

"My teacher would tell me to play the song and would ask where I was on the page and I would say: 'I’m not gonna lie, I have no clue'.

"It’s just funny because I’ve been playing for so long. If you ask me what the notes are, I could tell you, but I couldn’t sit there and fluently play. Someone would have to play it to me and then I’d memorise it."

A natural performer, Hamzaa was sent by her mum to a weekend performing arts school where her she danced, acted and eventually started writing her own songs.

"For me, writing songs became my diary. I used to write about guys that I had a crush on in primary school.

"I’d write about falling in love, I was like 10, I had never fallen in love but that’s what I was listening to and that’s what I did."

Her very first performance was even caught on video but she assures Music News LIVE it will never see the light of day.

"It was the end of year performance at the Bloomsbury Theatre and the last song was We Go Together from Grease. All the students from the dance school went on stage and I’m right at the front - I was about six, this big, chubby kid tapping away.

"I was literally the only one moving and when I watch it now it’s like, 'Oh cringe...' I can’t find it in my house but when I find it I will definitely make sure it gets burned so no one can see it.

"They was like two black kids in the whole performing arts school, me and this other girl in my class and there is this chubby little black girl shaking her body, it’s the funniest thing."

Hamzaa - who the Evening Standard has already compared with Amy Winehouse - released her debut EP, First Signs of Me, towards the end of 2018

From the sparse opener Red, a meditation on mental health and suicide, to the redemption of Breathing and the saving grace of forbidden love, Hamzaa writes with an openness and honesty which does indeed invoke the spirit of Camden's favourite daughter.

She plays her biggest headline show to date at the Omeara venue in London this week and, earlier this month, BBC 1Xtra included Hamzaa on its list of 15 Hot for 2019 artists who are tipped for success this year.

She's has support from BBC Music Introducing in London and her tracks have featured on both Radio 1 and 1Xtra playlists.

"It’s just been a whirlwind," she admits, "with people reaching out to me, saying: 'I’ve been going through some really hard times and I really needed to hear this song'".

"’I'm also getting recognised a little bit, which is really weird. I was on the bus the other day going home and I was looking so scruffy. I got home and I got a message on Instagram saying, 'I think I just saw you on a number 76 bus but I was too shy to say hello and I wasn’t sure if it was you'.

"I was just like, 'Woah, crazy."

Yes, that Darude, he of Sandstorm fame, is to represent Finland at this year's Eurovision Song Contest in Israel.

"This is such a huge honour for me to represent my home country in this way, and I am SO excited to share this crazy experience with you all!" he tweeted.

Real name Ville Virtanen, the 43-year-old Finnish DJ and record producer, is among the first contenders to be chosen for the annual singing competition, alongside France's Bilal Hassani and Austria's PAENDA, whose participation was also announced on Tuesday, external.

Darude will release three songs, one of which will be selected nationally to be the official entry in the coming weeks.

Six British contenders to be the UK entry will perform in a live show on the BBC on Friday 8 February, with the winner chosen by public vote.

The Eurovision Song Contest will be held in Tel Aviv on 14 May 2019.

Fans have posted encouraging images of David Hasselhoff and Nemo in response to John Legend's tweet that he is learning to swim.

The All of Me singer said it was the first swimming lesson he had taken in 35 years, adding his children, Luna, 2, and Miles, eight months, were already ahead of him in the swimming stakes.

Legend, who was recently announced as a coach in the forthcoming US season of The Voice, is one of only a handful of individuals to have won a Grammy, an Oscar, an Emmy and a Tony.

He drew praise from his 12.5 million Twitter followers for his decision to finally learn to swim at the age of 40.

One referenced his All of Me lyrics: My head’s under water / But I’m breathing fine / You’re crazy and I’m out of my mind.

"So what happened when your head was under water? Did you breathe fine? Was it all a lie?!" she wrote.

To which Legend replied: "All. Lies. Hahaha."

DMX has played his first show since being released from prison.

The rapper served a year in after being sentenced for tax evasion last year.

He stepped in to perform at the Staten Island supper club Mr Ciao on Saturday, after Ja Rule cancelled at the last minute for undisclosed reasons.

“DMX you saved the day!!!” the club wrote on Instagram.

The rapper, real name Earl Simmons,is reported to be under supervised release for the next three years.

He has served jail sentences in the past on charges including animal cruelty, reckless driving, drug possession and weapons possession.

It was reported at the time of his sentencing last year that the judge chose to limit his sentence for tax evasion to one year after the rapper played one of his tracks in court highlighting his difficult upbringing.

The father-of-15 has appeared in films including Cradle 2 the Grave and Romeo Must Die and featured alongside Jay-Z on Ja Rule track It's Murda from 1999.

David Bowie's first ever televised performance of his alter-ago Ziggy Stardust could make it into a new BBC documentary.

Long thought to have been erased, the 1972 performance on an ITV music show - captured by a fan on a home video recorder - has just been unearthed.

But the tape has degraded and must be slowly "baked" in an incubator in the hopes of restoring the footage.

"For fans, it is something of a Holy Grail," Francis Whately, producer and director of David Bowie: Finding Fame, told the Radio Times.

"It would fall apart if we played it, so it's had to be very carefully restored. It will be a real coup if it comes off."

Jagged Little Pill, the acclaimed musical inspired by Alanis Morissette's seminal 1995 album is heading to Broadway this autumn.

The musical premiered at Boston’s American Repertory Theater in May 2018 and enjoyed a sell-out run.

“This process, and what this process has yielded artistically and collaboratively, has been nothing short of a revelation, a balm and an arrival for me,” Morissette said.

Specific dates - and casting - has yet to be announced.

The book marks the theatre debut of Oscar-winning writer Diablo Cody.

The musical, about an outwardly conventional suburban family whose well-hidden troubles eventually come to the surface, features tracks including You Oughta Know, Head Over Feet, Hand In My Pocket and Ironic, as well as some new music.

The director of the controversial Michael Jackson documentary Finding Neverland has hit back at criticism from the singer's family and estate.

"Every time a song plays, a cash register goes 'ka-ching.' It doesn't surprise me that they've come out fighting," said Dan Reed whose four-hour documentary centres on "gut-wrenching" interviews with Wade Robson and James Safechuck (pictured above with Jackson), two men who claim they were abused by Jackson.

Michael Jackson, who died in 2009, denied any abuse allegations.

Defending the documentary, Reed denied it was a "tabloid character assassination" as suggested by the Jackson estate:

"I don't comment on Jackson. It's not a film about Michael. The film itself is an account of sexual abuse, how sexual abuse happens and then how the consequences play out later in life," he told the Hollywood Reporter.

On Monday, following the film's premiere at the Sundance film festival, a statement from the Jackson estate labelled Robson and Safechuck "perjurers" - a reference to sworn statements the two men gave when Jackson was alive that he had not abused them

"The film takes uncorroborated allegations that supposedly happened 20 years ago and treats them as fact," the statement read.

"We can't just stand by while this public lynching goes on. … Michael is not here to defend himself, otherwise these allegations would not have been made."

But Reed insisted their statements are "not consistent with having watched the movie".

He said he has no doubts about the men's truthfulness adding Robson and Safechuck "were not paid in any way, directly, indirectly" for their part in the documentary.

He also suggested there was an organised campaign drumming up fan protest against the film.

"Over a week, I had about a thousand emails from China and then they stopped about as suddenly as they'd begun, saying vile things to me, making threats," he says. "I know that there's a level of organisation."

Finding Neverland will air on Channel 4 this spring.

Rock music's most famous manager and spouse has said in an interview that she is working on a new biopic telling the story of how she met her hubby, Ozzy Osbourne.

Speaking to Variety, external, Sharon Osbourne says she has seen an unmade script about her marriage to Ozzy and called it "a load of crap’”.

"It didn’t make sense. It didn’t have a heart. It just wasn’t me,” she added.

Former X Factor judge Sharon has been Ozzy's manager since the early '80s when he was fired from his band Black Sabbath for his alcohol and drug abuse.

“I don’t want to do another rock and roll, sex, drugs and money movie about a musician,” she said.

“That’s not what I’m doing. There hasn’t been a movie about a woman that actually works on the management side - that’s a true story - and somebody that succeeds through the struggle, and you come out the other side.”

She has apparently approached Danny Boyle about directing the film.

In other Ozzy news, the singer has been forced to reschedule some UK tour dates due to illness.

He was due to kick off No More Tours 2 in Dublin on Wednesday night but has had to postpone after coming down with the flu.

The tour will now begin in Glasgow on 7 February.

The Recording Academy has issued a statement making clear that a tweet which claimed to contain a leaked list of Grammy winners is fake.

"There is no legitimacy to this," a Recording Academy spokesperson told Billboard.

"Grammy Awards results are not shared, even with Recording Academy staff members, until the day of the Grammy Awards ceremony, when names of the recipients are delivered by [accounting firm] Deloitte in sealed envelopes."

The Recording Academy said it is considering legal action over the tweet and attached video which shows an alleged winners' list from the Recording Academy's website.

The supposed 'leak' certainly got social media worked up...

The 61st Grammy takes place on Sunday 10 February at Los Angeles' Staples Center.

Kendrick Lamar has eight nominations for his Black Panther soundtrack. Hit single All The Stars is up for both record and song of the year, while the soundtrack also competes for the coveted Album of the Year title.

Cardi B has secured five nominations, including Album of the Year and Song of the Year, for I Like It.

But there's a long list of other contenders, so in the interest of fairness...

It's the NYC band's first UK show in more than four years.

They'll top the bill on Saturday night - 25 May - at Victoria Park and will be joined by bands including Jack White's Raconteurs, Interpol, Johnny Marr, Parquet Courts and Courtney Barnett.

It's All Points East's second year, with the event being held over two consecutive weekends. The other headliners announced for weekend one are The Chemical Brothers and Christine and the Queens.

Line ups for the second weekend are yet to be announced.

The Vaccines had to quit their show in Blackburn on Monday night midway through after a safety barrier repeatedly collapsed.

The indie rock band apologised to fans on Twitter, saying they were feeling "angry and empty" at the decision.

"The decision to stop the show was not ours," they wrote on Twitter

"But the safety barrier in the venue kept collapsing.

"If we had continued people would undoubtedly have been seriously injured."

The London band promised to reschedule the show "and finish what we started ASAP"

"Pls hold on to tickets. We know u work hard to pay for them," they tweeted.

No one was injured at the gig, but fans took to Twitter to bemoan "the state of some arts venues", calling Blackburn "a joke".

Another jokingly blamed fans for "moshing too hard".

A King George's Hall spokeswoman told the BBC: "Following an incident near to the end of the show, and despite attempts to rectify the problem, the gig had to be called to a premature end due to Health and Safety concerns."

The Vaccines are due to play at Newcastle's O2 Academy on Tuesday and in Motherwell on Thursday. They will play London's Roundhouse on 8 & 9 February.
