Snail Mail singer/songwriter Lindsey Jordan was massively jet-lagged for her performance at the Walled Stage at Green Man at the weekend.

    Not that you would've known.

In fact, performing her "vulnerable rock 'n' roll with a twist of pop and emo" to an intimate festival crowd is one of the few situations in which the comfortable numbness brought on by a long haul flight might even come in handy.

The 19-year-old from Maryland told us before the show: "I'm so jet-lagged that I can’t even remember how the songs go, I think I'm just gonna have to go up there and wing it.

"We were just on tour for 58 days and I haven’t played the songs in a week and already I'm scared.

"I hate having to do the first show of any designated tour - it freaks me out."

    She needn't have worried.

The Mail (as absolutely nobody is calling them, yet) have been topping the list of 'must see acts' all summer and it's not hard to see why with Lindsey's "emotionally raw" lyrics and laconic delivery of tracks from debut album Lush, which came out in June.

"It took me forever," said Lindsey - referring to a period of only one and a half years (!)

"I didn’t feel comfortable rushing it. I had a lot of songs but a lot of it was scrapped because I wanted to take as much time as possible and spread it out over lots of different moments.

"I think of it as one cohesive finished thing,"

She added: "It is emotional, it ebbs and flows on tour and some nights I don’t feel it at all and some nights I tear up.

    Quote Message

During [final album track] Anytime I teared up so recently. We’ve been on tour for a year and sometimes the songs hit hard and sometimes they don’t.

    Quote Message

I feel pretty emotionally raw, you guys might get some tears out of me...

It transpires that Lindsey might not have been totally honest with regards to the origin or her pre-gig "rawness" on Friday evening.

She'd been to a John Waters-themed gay club night the night before, which might have had something to do with it.

“I was like 'it's Baltimore, it's gay we have to go...' and they were playing Aretha Franklin and people were pouring them out and dancing.”

Jet-lag + emotional club night + first gig back: That'll do it.

Lindsey began playing the guitar "obsessively" from five-years-old but admits that she did briefly consider "doing a real job" instead, at around middle school.

The straight As student certainly had the grades for it, if not the desire.

"I'd cut school and stuff but I did really well at tests and I did my homework.

A lot of hard work went into this music but it wasn’t ever meant to be a profession.

    Quote Message

It was a real pleasant surprise that people connected with the album the way they did so I feel lucky and I'm having a good time.

Had she gone ahead with that threat to quit music we might never had heard heartfelt lyrics - that could have come out of the mouth of an old blues woman - like those on Heat Wave (above):

Swirl in the white evening sun / Tell me that I'm the only one

And I hope I never get a clue / Green eyes, I don’t know what to do

Oh and as for the actual heat wave in the UK around the exact time of that particular song's release, Lindsey says you are welcome.

"I think it's fair to say I put that on you guys."

    Guns N’Roses fans rejoice!

After an interview with Classic Rock Magazine, external, it looks like Slash has confirmed that new music is on the way.

After the band's original line up settled their differences last year, Slash told the mag that frontman Axl Rose has been working on new material.

"I think we’re going to go well on into the future. I mean, Axl’s got a ton of [music] that he recorded already, so we’re going to get in there and just start getting into that thing, and then if we do a record and then do a tour, I could see that cycle going on endlessly,” he said.

Christmas really has come early for Hinds fans.

The Spanish indie rockers have arrived in the UK early ahead of their Leeds + Reading Festival gigs this weekend.

Ade, Ana, Amber and Carlotta popped into 6 Music earlier to perform some tracks for DJ Tom Ravenscroft and you can listen above.

And they announced they're set to curate their own special one-day mini-festival with some of their musical friends at London's Hackney Arts Centre on 1 December.

Earlier in the year, before the release of their second album, I Don't Run, the chicas told us how rock 'n' roll was "not cool anymore" and they were determined to change that.

    Good job so far.

"She would always give me a hug and it felt familiar", he said.

"It felt like my grandmother was hugging me."

It is unclear whether rapper 6ix9ine will still be joining the tour.

It was recently reported that he could face up to three years in jail should he be found guilty of sexual exploitation of a child, plus additional assault charges. He is due in court on 2 October, after violating an earlier plea deal.

In 2015, he pleaded guilty to using a child in a sexual performance - a video which he went on to post online.

Nicki's new album, Queen, debuted at number 2 in the US Billboard charts this week, which Nicki was not very happy about, and entered UK album charts at number 5.

  8. Baxter Dury: 'Noel Gallagher's fans were not quite ready for me'published at 13:45 BST 22 August 2018

Baxter Dury will have picked up a few new fans at Green Man this weekend after his captivating performance on the Mountain's Foot stage on Saturday afternoon.

Lots of kids present at the family-friendly festival will have picked up a few new swear words too.

The eccentric singer has been in demand of late following the relative success of his 2017 album Prince of Tears.

Speaking before his set (and after having enjoyed a 'jazz falafel') Baxter told us why he thinks his fifth album has finally caught the attention a wider audience.

"It’s a very Britsh album isn't it", he said.

"It’s a bloke sort of being honest that he just isn’t usually and that communicates.

"Maybe we’re just evolving at a very slow pace anyway and you have to find something new to talk about, so being honest about your rubbish emotions is quite a good thing."

He added: "But you don’t want to get too over-indulgent cos it breaks the mystery."

The 46-year-old - and son of late Blockheads leader Ian Dury - has been making quite a name for himself of late with his perfectly-honed disheveled playboy on-stage persona.

Chatting backstage, in jeans and a T-shirt, he told us that it takes a lot of concentration and an ill-fitting nylon suit to get himself into character each evening.

    Quote Message

To break the fourth wall or whatever it's called you’ve got be contained into something. You're in a bubble and if you're not in a bubble you’re very aware of your own actions and it doesn’t work.

    Quote Message

There’s a little stage of silence for me and I depart from one person into another, not some metamorphosis or great grand thing - it's subtle. But I definitely shift and then I wear a pretty ill-fitting 80s suit and you can feel the nylon grip your thighs and your off... with Priscilla, Queen of the Desert somewhere!

Perhaps the biggest test of his career to date and the surest sign of his rising popularity was a support set with Noel Gallagher on his UK summer tour.

Dury believes that the hoards of beer-swilling Oasis fanatics were perhaps not best prepared for his onstage unraveling act.

"That’s what you call growing up, make or break time," he said.

"It was a bit like if you’d painted yourself in Bic pen drawings in a prison and decided to do some sort of fire-eating juggling act, that’s what some of his crowd were like.

"You couldn’t stop. If you stopped you’d perish. You had just to carry on".

He added: "Noel and his crew were amazing, such lovely people.

    Quote Message

I just think there's a Dunkirk spirit and their fans are not quite ready for a bloke talking about his list of problems - who can’t sing.

The singer, who tours the UK in November - including his biggest headline show to date at London's Shepherd's Bush Empire - is restlessly keen to get to work on the follow-up to Prince of Tears.

"It's quite contained in a lot of real emotional stuff and you carry that around with you [for a year] while your actually performing it and you think 'that’s finished now.'

"So I just want to do something much more shallow, I don’t want to be so honest!"

Like Ariana Grande before him, the Reverend - aka Jon McClure - has been opening up about the importance of discussing mental health.

The 36-year-old delivered a four page Twitter post about his trouble coming to terms with mental health issues, after having endured "a bad weekend".

"Thing is I'm a Northern working class male," he wrote

"We're told to man up aren't we? It's not the done thing to admit to emotional or mental frailty."

He went on to describe his struggles with mental health and how depression and anxiety is "like a monster lurking away to drag me under."

Plenty of folk online have thanked him for his "outstanding" words.

Post Malone has hit out at trolls who "wished death" upon him after his private jet was forced to make an emergency landing yesterday.

The singer/rapper was travelling to the UK to appear at Reading and Leeds festivals when the incident happened.

The jet was en route from Teterboro, New Jersey, to Luton Airport when it reportedly blew two tyres.

It was diverted to make an emergency landing at New York Stewart International Airport.

Yesterday we told you how Madonna's Aretha Franklin tribute at the MTV VMAs didn't go down too well with viewers, who felt she was making the whole thing a bit more about herself than the recently deceased soul star.

Now, Madge has taken to Instagram to clear this all up, pointing out that she didn't actually intend to do a "tribute at all".

"Just to clarify: I was asked to present video of the year by MTV! And then they asked me to share any anecdotes I had in my career connected to Aretha Franklin! I shared a part of my journey and thanked Aretha for inspiring me along the way.

    Quote Message

I did not intend to do a tribute to her! That would be impossible in 2 minutes with all the noise and tinsel of an award show. I could never do her justice in this context or environment.

She added: "Unfortunately most people have short attention spans, and are so quick to judge. I love Aretha! R.E.S.P.E.C.T. . I Love Camilla! Congrats! I LOVE my dress! AND. I love-L O V E!! ♥️ and there is nothing anyone can say or do that will change that."

"Apart from a few ballet exercises when I was a gymnast, dance is something I’ve NEVER done (probably for a good reason) but something I’ve always admired in pop divas growing up.

"I thought this was the perfect moment to try it," Nina explains.

Ballet is something that is beautiful and feminine but also painful and extremely difficult. I like how double sided it is - it can look vulnerable but still be one of the toughest things out there.

"I felt like the video related to the song in terms of having the beautiful moments in a relationship but also the pain of someone cheating.”

  15. BMTH drop new Hottest Record and announce album and tourpublished at 10:23 BST 22 August 2018

That's Bring Me The Horizon for anyone not familiar with the acronym.

The Sheffield lads returned last night with a brand new track and this morning revealed details of their forthcoming sixth album, Amo.

The LP will arrive on 11 January and frontman Ollie Sykes had a chat with Radio 1 DJ Annie Mac as she gave new single, Mantra, its first spin.

The song sees Ollie beg the question: Do you want to start a cult with me?

We're good for that thanks Ollie but we'll have a listen to the new track above.

"It's quite a lot different but also got similarities from what people expect from us" he said.

"It just felt right - the right song to show people first."

The band will also tour the UK in November and tickets are on sale on 31 August.

  16. Eagles overtake Michael Jackson for best-selling album of all timepublished at 10:01 BST 22 August 2018

    EaglesImage source, Getty Images

Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975, by the LA band has officially trumped Jacko's Thriller as the most popular record ever.

The news comes after the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) recalculated sales of the band's best of collection, certifying it as 38x platinum.

It was last tallied up in 2006, when the album was a mere 29x platinum but the record industry has obviously changed beyond recognition since then and the new certification now takes into account streaming and downloads, as well as traditional sales.

Eagles founding member Don Henley said in a statement:

    Quote Message

We are grateful for our families, our management, our crew, the people at radio and, most of all, the loyal fans who have stuck with us through the ups and downs of 46 years. It’s been quite a ride.

Thriller was apparently last updated in 2017 clocking in at 33x platinum.

(So Michael Jackson fans will no doubt be phoning the RIAA as we speak).

Needless to say, La Roux - aka Elly Jackson - was not impressed, telling US publication Billboard that it totally misrepresents the intended metaphor of the song.

    She said:

    Quote Message

Using Bulletproof, a song I wrote about relationships, for a piece like this is abhorrent. I have never, and would never approve my music to be used in this way.
