Drummer Nick Mason’s Saucerful Of Secrets will perform early Pink Floyd tracks at four small shows in London next month.

Nick will be joined by Spandau Ballet's Gary Kemp, as well as Guy Pratt, Lee Harris and Dom Beken for the gigs from 20-24 May.

The band will play early Floyd tracks from albums such as The Piper at the Gates of Dawn and the album from which they took their name.

The sun is trying to shine today and soon festival season will be upon us.

The BBC will be at The Great Escape, Latitude, Green Man and many more, including our own Biggest Weekend.

As we reported at the start of the year, Keychange have called for an end to the gender imbalance at music festivals by proposing a 2022 deadline for lineups to have a 50/50 split.

Since then, many festivals joined up to the scheme.

Now new research from the VDC, external attempts to paint a fuller picture of how the land is lying this summer.

They've pulled together a list of most of the country's biggest annual festivals (not including the one-off Biggest Weekend), counted how many artists/bands each has on the bill with at least one female member and worked it out as a percentage of the total.

Little Mix might have The Mixers, right?

Justin Bieber boasts his Beliebers.

And Barry Manilow? Why the Fanilows, of course.

But can any of those groups of fans truthfully say that they've actually traveled to a gig with their heroes on the same tour bus?

Unlikely (do Tweet @BBCMusic if you have),

Well certain sections of The Ozzers - aka fans of Halifax three-piece indie rockers The Oreilles - can make that very claim.

The band - made up of sisters Esme, Sid and pal Henry- are currently on the UK leg of their first major headline European tour, following the release of debut album Silver Dollar Moment, and have been making plenty of new friends along the way.

At this rate, however, they're gonna need a bigger bus.

Frontwoman/bassist Esmé Dee Hand Halford takes up the tale:

“We had some friends from Cardiff come to see us in Brussels and, at the end of the night, we had a lock-in this bar.

“They were like 'oh we’re gonna come see you in Amsterdam in a few days, we’re just gonna hitchhike.'

"We were like 'just come in the van'.

“It was pretty sick - we were like the merry prankstrers."

Guitarist Henry Carlyle Wade adds: “If there's space in the van then they can jump in. It's an eight-seater.

“But they’ve gotta pay...'' he jokes.

The band hail from the West Yorkshire town but are these days spread across the M62; Liverpool, Manchester and Leeds, when they are not playing blistering sets across the continent.

"They have different ears in Europe, which is interesting,” notes Henry.

A decade ago, the early success of the Arctic Monkeys opened the floodgates for a load similar-sounding Yorkshire bands. The Orielles, though, with their genre-straddling indie/world music grooves, do not fit into this category at all.

As Henry puts it; "It's a mixture of every decade and every genre we can ever imagine."

“Most recently we’re super into Turkish psychedelic music," says Esme,

“But primarily a lot of baggy 90s Manchester stuff..."

Henry picks up: “Talking Heads, Tom Tom Club, no wave, new wave, funk, jazz fusion, Latino and Cubano, Thai funk..." (OK stop there Henry, we get the point).

The three piece - who will perform at the Belfast leg of the BBC's Biggest Weekend after receiving support from BBC Music Introducing West Yorkshire - all agree that streaming and easier access to such a varied range of music from around the world is what enabled them to create their unique sound from a room in Halifax.

“That’s definitely true," says Esme.

The Orielles have already had the honour of a remix by legendary DJ and Primal Scream collaborator Andy Weatherall bestowed upon one of their tracks ("We met him in a field in Cornwall when he was dressed like a pirate") but they draw equal inspiration from the world of film, with drummer Sidonie B Hand Halford being a former film student at the Universty of Liverpool.

With that in mind, the Quentin Tarantino fans - who claim to have found a parallel universe in hotel in London recently - say they've planted "liminal spaces" in the album to help the listener pass from one side to the other.

"The A-side is more personal and about experience - the B-side is absurdist and surreal," explains Esme.

"When you pass through the limainal space you change your of state of consciousness."

So be careful when you lift that needle.

If the album was a film then, what would it be?

“Someone drew us a picture of a film called Wings of Desire about a guy who is dead but he's an angel looking over Berlin.

“That's similar to the album as it's written about observation from an aerial perspective looking at the world”

The hit maker is, according to Camila, "the most lovely human".

He joined her on stage in Hollywood at the weekend to perform the unreleased song Sangria Wine.

The tweet above suggest it will be made available to fans, old enough to drink, soon.

Editors have dropped a new live video for their new track Darkness At The Door from latest album Violence.

The artistically-shot video was filmed during a gig in Amsterdam and includes some extreme close ups of frontman Tom Smith.

Warning: It also contains flashy lights.

The woman from Dallas, Texas has claimed she was "being groomed" for R. Kelly and has accused the R&B singer of "a sexual assault incident resulting in serious bodily injury."

The woman, who is withholding her identity, claims she was 19 when she first began an 11-month sexual relationship with Kelly in March 2017.

She has told police he "knowingly and intentionally infected her with a sexually transmitted disease without her knowledge."

Lee Merritt, her lawyer, said in a statement:"These offences occurred while our client was being groomed to join Kelly’s sex cult."

The singer has previously denied allegations that he is holding several young women in an "abusive cult".

He's best known for his rock 'n' roll antics and raucous live shows but now Nick Cave is wheeling his way into another world.

The Australian has teamed up with fellow Aussie skate company Fast Times to make an official Nick Cave skateboard.

The board contains an illustration from San Francisco artist Chuck Sperry, inspired by the track Heathen Child from Nick's other band Grinderman.

It contains the lyrics; “Hey little Moo Moo, light as a rainbow."

Which is a required skill out on the ramps.

Writer and friend of the royals Gyles Brandreth (the posh one from Have I Got News for You) has questioned the suitability of the lineup for a gig celebrating the Queen’s birthday this weekend.

On Saturday, a star-studded bill including Kylie Minogue, Sir Tom Jones, Sting and Shaggy (above) and Craig David, as well as Shawn Mendes and Ladysmith Black Mambazo will perform at the Royal Albert Hall to mark Her Majesty's 92nd.

The former Tory MP told the Radio Times: “We know the Queen loves the Commonwealth and Shaggy’s Jamaican, Kylie’s Australian, Shawn’s Canadian, and Ladysmith Black Mambazo hails from South Africa, so that’s something.

We think he might be joking, don't you?

We'd crack a smile or two if we were that man as well.

The rapper has teased his new album Scorpion will be released in time for summer.

It comes via his Instagram account, where he can be seen wearing a black jacket with the words “Scorpion, June Twenty Eighteen, by Drake,” stitched on the back.

Which is kind of a giveaway really...

Fun Fact: Drake's birthday is 24 October which means he qualifies as a scorpio by only 48 hours.

Had he been born two days earlier his new album would have to be called Libra, which admittedly doesn't sounds as good.

Well now following his hit God's Plan, Drake's new track, Nice For What, went straight in at the top of the chart on Friday.

All of which means, at 11 weeks, he now holds the shortest time between UK number ones at the first attempt in this country since 1969.

The record holding band are still The Beatles when they had quickly consecutive number ones with Get Back and The Ballad of John and Yoko.*

The veteran Welsh rockers returned on Friday with their 13th (yes thirteenth) studio album Resistance is Futile.

We caught up with Nicky and James from the band ahead of their biggest summer in recent memory.

Their UK tour kicks off next week and then there's a subsequent European support slot for Guns N' Roses, as well as a guest appearance at Robert Smith's curated Meltdown Festival in London.

Not to mention their set at the BBC's Biggest Weekend in Belfast on 25 May.

"I'm looking forward to watching James at the side of the stage watching Slash play guitar!," says Nicky.

James agrees: "Yeah I'm looking forward to that if I can get to the side of the stage!"

Nicky adds: "To be asked by some of our heroes to do those things... We've managed to do it a lot over the years.

In news that would surprise precisely no-one, the DJ and producer has, according to TMZ, filed a trademark for his son Asahd’s name.

The lucky kid was born in October 2016 and was credited as ‘executive producer’ on the star’s latest album ‘Grateful’.

TMZ says Khaled is attempting to trademark the 18 month-old’s birth name, external for use on products, ranging from cosmetics, clothing and children’s books to miniature cars.

First today, fresh from his surprise sets at Coachella over the weekend, hip hop megastar Kendrick Lamar has won the Pulitzer Prize for music, external.

Ken becomes the first non-classical or jazz artist to collect the award.

The 30-year-old Californian won the prize for his 2017 album Damn.

Organisers said it offered "affecting vignettes capturing the complexity of modern African-American life".

Lamar won five Grammy awards for Damn in January - but lost the coveted album of the year prize to Bruno Mars.

He later smashed up a sports car during his performance at the Brits in a show of symbolism against perceived notions of what rap music is about - though it seemed to simultaneously confuse/amuse people.

In case you're wondering what all the academic fuss is about, then here is Ken (above) performing DNA. and HUMBLE from his critically-acclaimed album at the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards, courtesy of MTV.

The winner of the Pulitzer Prize receives a $15,000 (£10,500) prize.
