    Beautiful friends...

That's all for us today but scroll down for news on Bon Iver's cancelled European tour, Forbes magazine's 30 under 30 list, the Coachella line-up plus number three on the BBC's Sound of 2017 poll is revealed.

If the BBC had been running the Sound of... poll in 1967, then The Doors may have found their way on to it - as their debut album turns 50 years old today.

In that spirit - here's a little taster to take you back to your teenage angst years when you grew your hair long, claimed to hate your parents and seriously considered investing in a pair of leather trousers.

If you didn't do any of the above, then your dad probably did.

    Bye for now.

So you know how these days your favourite major recording artists are also massive money-making commercial machines? You knew that right? #sorrynotsorry

From the clothes and bling they wear at their gigs to the drinks they supposedly drink backstage (according to the ads).

Well, believe it or not, this was not always the case.

The BBC's business has been looking back at a seminal case of cross-brand promotion from 2000, involving Sting, a Desert Rose and Jaguar S-Type car, that heralded in the age of syncing.

    Don't know about syncing?

  6. Watch Sia's new music video for the Lion soundtrackpublished at 14:04 GMT 4 January 2017

A slightly creepy new video from Sia now, taken from the soundtrack to the new movie Lion.

Never Give Up sees two young runaways, wearing Sia wigs and blacked out faces, running around inside a disused train station.

Or at least we hope that it's disused, as they're dashing around on the train tracks which is both irresponsible and silly.

  7. Gerard Way looking forward to making 'really weird stuff'published at 13:41 GMT 4 January 2017

    Gerard Way

After one of last year's biggest misunderstandings - a My Chemical Romance reunion which was revealed to be merely an album re-release - singer Gerard Way has been writing about some actual new music.

In a lengthy post on his website, external, the singer said: "I am always writing music, I am very lucky that way - there is always an idea and something that inspires me, even if it takes me a minute to figure out what I want to say, which is what really creates the space between releases.

    Quote Message

I am about to convert a structure on our property into a recording studio, which actually won’t take a lot of work as the space is already pretty perfect. Great drum sounds and church ceilings. Secret echo chambers. I look forward to making some really weird stuff here, and mine for the really hard to get diamonds."

    George MichaelImage source, Reuters

He also goes on to mourn the loss, in 2016, of actress Carrie Fisher and George Michael who he said was "a booming voice, an amazing talent, and a quietly charitable individual."

    Quote Message

Watching him struggle over the years with being in the public eye had been difficult, and eventually something I think everyone can now relate to, us all being in the public eye constantly. He inspired me in many ways."

  8. Hip hop rapper to appear on The Simpsonspublished at 13:20 GMT 4 January 2017

The new, hour-long episode also stars Snoop Dogg, RZA and Common.

  9. Reunited Spice Girls 'not' called GEMpublished at 13:00 GMT 4 January 2017

    Spice GirlsImage source, PA

Spice Girls star-turned-reality show judge Mel B has said press have it all wrong about the reunited band (minus Victoria Beckham and Mel C).

Well all wrong in so far as the name of the band which is being reported.

"There is no GEM, I don't know why journalists keep on saying that. It's Geri, Melanie and Emma," she told the Press Association.

"I don't live here so it's fine by me, I don't have to hear it every day, but I'm sure they hear it every day."

Mel has re-teamed with bandmates Geri Horner (nee Halliwell) and Emma Bunton to record new music - and a track, apparently by the trio leaked online in November.

Last year marked the 20th anniversary of the release of the group's debut single Wannabe and the girls are planning some kind of 'celebration'.

At least, that's what the press are calling it - we're sticking with 'event'.

Prior to that, his reality TV star wife Kim Kardashian was robbed at gun point of more than £5m worth of jewellery in Paris in October.

Kim withdrew from social media completely after the incident, but last night made her long-awaited return, posting a family pic of her with her hubby and kids on Twitter.

Mariah Carey has shared her feelings on her flop performance at the televised New Year's celebrations in New York.

In the footage, which has been shared thousands of times on social media, she seemed to be struggling with her earpiece, appeared to be lip synching to a backing track and performed awkwardly with her backup dancers.

Her management blamed Dick Clark Productions for the mess, saying she was "set up to fail" - which the company has firmly denied.

Now, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Mariah added: "I’m of the opinion that Dick Clark would not have let an artist go through that and he would have been as mortified as I was in real time."

She said: "It’s not going to stop me from doing a live event in the future. But it will make me less trusting of using anyone outside of my own team."
