All good things must come to an end and we're afraid to say we've reached that point in Thursday's MNL.

Scroll down to see what role birthday girl Taylor Swift has in the new star-studded Cats movie, Janet Jackson's reaction to making the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the final ruling in the famous Blurred Lines legal case.

Plus Ye calls out to Bob, 'Keef' puts down the bottle and Matt opens a caf'.

Playing us off today are Smashing Pumpkins performing live outside for US TV show host Jimmy Kimmel (above). We wouldn't fancy doing that in the UK in December but in Los Angeles it's probably a fair few degrees warmer still.

Watch above and we'll be back tomorrow morning with New Music Friday and 5 Things We Learned This Week.

    Ciao.

    Finally today, a heart-warming pre-Christmas tale...

Manc rapper Bugzy Malone has revealed how his latest grime video helped reunite a family.

In an interview with BBC 1Xtra's DJ Target, the grime rapper confirmed that the homeless characters in his Run video were not actors.

Bugzy said: "We went out and got proper homeless people. We had a chance to chat to them and give them a little something.

"We got proper people off the streets of Manchester in there."

The 27-year-old rapper, whose real name is Aaron Davis, went on to explain that shortly after the video was released his management team received a message from a woman who recognised one of the men in it.

"We got an email off a mum of one of the guys, the guy had been missing for six months, to a year.

    Quote Message

He was on the missing list. And when she's seen him in my music video, it made her go out and find him.

Everyone knows Silent Night, but contemporary carols are still being written. We meet two of the UK's most popular composers, John Rutter and Bob Chilcott.

"One of the nice things about Christmas music is that you get 11 months off from it."

So says "Mr Christmas" himself - better known as John Rutter, a choral tour de force, composer of some of the UK's most popular contemporary carols, and master of ceremonies at the Royal Philharmonic's annual Christmas concert.

But the 73-year-old, whose December is busier than Santa's, says he's never grown tired of the season.

"You do get 11 months off but by the time Christmas comes around, it's fresh again; and when you hear the same carols from year to year, it ties some of the threads of your life together.

"It's lovely, because we do look for reassurance in a changing world."

The long-running copyright case over the hit song Blurred Lines has finally ended, with Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams being ordered to pay $5m (£4m) to Marvin Gaye's family.

The ruling concludes a legal battle that began in 2013, when the late singer's family claimed the song copied Gaye's 1977 hit, Got to Give It Up.

Gaye's family initially won the case in 2015, but Thicke and Williams appealed.

A California court upheld the verdict in March this year, and the new amended judgement confirms the settlement.

Thicke, Williams and Williams' publishing company, More Water From Nazareth, are jointly required to pay Gaye's family damages of $2.8m (£2.2m).

Meanwhile, Thicke has been ordered to pay an additional $1.7m (£1.3m), while Williams and his publishing company will pay another $357,630 (£282,296).

Gaye's family will also be entitled to 50% of all future royalties earned by the song.
