Its been 40 years since Kate Bush's epic tribute to Emily Bronte's novel of the same name.

The track is taken from Kate's 1978 album The Kick Inside.

The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever saw fans from as far afield as Sheffield, Berlin, Melbourne and San Francisco recreate the video.

How embarrassing that they all showed up wearing the same red dress... awkward.

UK pop newcomer Rothwell took a wander to see the locally famous pink sheep of Latitude before her performance in the serene setting of the secluded Alcove Stage.

The singer, who has previously supported Justin Bieber, drew a lot of attention lately when an acoustic version of her track, Velvet Heart, was used as the backdrop to the moment Adam dumped Rosie on Love Island.

Their TV relationship led to a charity issuing a warning about spotting signs of abuse.

"Velvet Heart is all about a good old friend of mine who doesn't look after hers," said Rothwell, of the actual situation the song was based on.

    "She knows. I love her.

    Quote Message

I've had a couple of people message me to say it's very relatable to the situation they're in at the minute, which breaks my heart. Bless em, you just want to tell them it'll be OK.

The track - which you can watch her singing at Isle of Wight festival (above) - contains the lyrics:

He's a nice looking boy but you don't know his mum / Does he treat her right?

Fans of the show might remember it was played just as the camera panned "to Adam with his biceps out in his bed - and this was just perfect" added the singer, disparagingly.

"It completely blows my mind, it's amazing that it can be put out to that many people to get the chance to hear it.

"Some people have done covers and you think 'if you can relate to it, I'm glad I can help someone.'"

Rothwell, who used to perform with New York outfit and "coolest people in the world" The Knocks, has a new single out in August.

Here she is performing another track, Left Me at the Party, at Latitude on Friday, where she also performed a crowd-pleasing number by her all time favourites, the Spice Girls.

Now there's five girls/women who know all about matters of the heart.

The Organism spread its tentacles far and wide across Latitude on Sunday, playing three shows including a secret forest gig for BBC Music Introducing.

They were being worked so hard in fact that they didn't even get chance to go for a dip, unlike Wolf Alice (scroll down).

Nevertheless, Emily and Ruby from the seven-piece international outfit were loving the family-friendly vibes of the Suffolk festival.

"We played to a tent full of really cool people," said Ruby, in between shows #1 and #2.

"There were lots of families and I like that, lots of kids up front," added Emily, who described their later surprise sit down set as "a bit of Kumbaya, circle."

"We make a lot of sound effects using household objects and stuff."

Ruby explained: "We had to think of a way to translate our live show into these much smaller radio situations and we worked out something that we find really fun and other people seem to like as well."

Just prior to the festival the band released their remix of the new Gorillaz track, Humility, which you can check out above.

Emily told MNL exactly how the mashup came about.

"Damon [Albarn] from Gorillaz reached out to us and asked us to do a remix and we were like 'cool'.

    Quote Message

We don't really come from dance music or DJ'ing so I don't really understand the point of a remix except to like take the voice and make some new music to put it over.

    Quote Message

But then we also remixed the video as well which I thought was quite fun.

    Image caption,

    Superorgorillaz

"To put ourselves into the Gorillaz world - was kind of novel."

Ruby added: "It's taking all of the great stuff that Gorillaz ever meant for their video and putting a Superorganism touch on it."

The band dedicated the last verse of the remix to Gorillaz rapper Del the Funky Homosapien, who recently landed himself in hospital after a nasty stage fall.

"Damn dude get well soon," they tweeted., external

So will Robert - the band's visual arts expert - be dreaming up a Gorillaz-inspired animated version of the group any time soon?

"We're just experimenting constantly" said Emily. "We're not entirely sure what we're doing next, we need to put all these ideas out of the air and mush them together."

"And turn it into a giant Superorganism space ship", suggested Ruby. "And go somewhere else..."

    Sounds like one helluva trip.

For anyone wondering who looks after the "non-stop pop production house" they all live in together in east London when they're on the road, then that's Robert too.

    Busy guy.

The Org say whatever happens their follow-up second album will be ready by the end of the year.

The singer was left hanging, literally when she experienced a stage malfunction at Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field on Saturday night.

She was performing her single Delicate, when the basket carrying her got stuck mid-air.

The singer admitted to fans: "I'm pretty sure I'm stuck up here. It's a nice view, though.

"What happens now is basically I'm just chilling waiting to figure out what happens next."

Earlier this month, Beyonce was also caught out by a malfunction in Warsaw, Poland and had to descend a platform via a ladder.

Nile and his band are also due to release their first new album in a quarter century, he's been speaking to the BBC's Sophie Van Brugen about his career longevity, which has seen him work with artists like David Bowie, Madonna and Daft Punk.

Many England football fans dared to dream the impossible dream this summer before their side's crushing semi-final defeat to Croatia.

None more so than Wolf Alice, who twice changed their own band name on social media, first to Harry Kane the band and then to Jordan Pickford the band, to honour some of manager Gareth Southgate's players.

Drummer Joel, spoke to MNL before their Sunday evening show in support of their pals and headliners, Alt-J and admitted the gig might be been so different had England made it to the final.

"As everyone did, we got so soaked up in it," he said.

"It really did feel like a sense of occasion - I don't why it was so different.

    Quote Message

Maybe it was the sunshine and so much bad stuff going in the world, it felt quite nice to be unified by something like sport for a while.

    Gareth SouthgateImage source, Getty Images

"He's [Southgate] united our country much more than any politician has for a while."

He added: "I was honestly saying 'we're gonna win this thing', then I was like, 'when are we playing at this festival? Oh gosh!'

"But fair play to them - great lads, didn't look like any egos among them and refreshing to watch."

As it turned out, instead of stressing about the triple threat posed by the French forwards, the band had a relaxing pre-gig swim.

"We flew from [Mad Cool in] Madrid and went straight to the lake, got nice and wet, the football was on, it was great."

Joel added that they want to return to Latitude as headliners next time and hinted they have some surprises coming up later in the year.

Alt-J were enjoying Latitude with their families and told us they had a cunning plan in the event they were to come on after England's first World Cup triumph since 1966.

"We had David Baddiel on speed dial," joked keys man Gus Unger-Hamilton, with reference to the terrace hit which last week became the first ever song to go in at number one in the UK charts on four different occasions with the same lineup.

"He was going to come out and sing Three Lions, external but we've had to dispatch him."

"He's left wandering around the festival", singer/guitarist Joe Newman chipped in.

So on the whole it was a mixture of football fan disappointment and professional relief for Sunday's top musical dogs.

Gus went on: "I think it would been very difficult to play this gig after England losing the final so in a sense I'm sort of glad.

"But if we'd won it - wow that would've been amazing... We had a good run didn't we?,"

"I'm really chuffed for the boys" added Joe, in his best Ron Manager TV football pundit voice.

    Isn't it? wasn't it? Marvellous.

While there were pockets of joyful French fans found in the field draped in the Tricolore flag on Sunday afternoon, across Latitude's many stages lots of bands competed for attention with the World Cup Final screening - including two MNL Newbie Tuesday acts Skinny Pelembe and The Orielles.

Here's the Halifax trio showing that attack is the best form of defence at the Sunset Arena below.

Emotions ran high in London's Hyde Park on Sunday night as Paul Simon called time on his international touring career.

Simon, 76, told fans in February that he intended to stop touring as it took him away from wife Edie Brickell and their three children.

Sunday night saw him make good on that promise with a two-and-a-half hour farewell concert that also brought down the curtain on this year's British Summer Time, external Festival.

Arriving on stage in a red T-shirt and sunglasses, Simon rattled through a hefty set spanning the full breadth of his six-decade career.

Kicking off with America and Fifty Ways To Leave Your Lover, he went on to delight fans with a rare performance of Simon and Garfunkel hit Bridge Over Troubled Water.

"I gave the song away and I seldom sung it after that, so I had a strange relationship to it as if it wasn't my song," he told the capacity audience.

"But tonight, on my final tour, I'm going to reclaim my lost child," he continued. "It feels good to have it back."

Multiple encores saw Simon play such classics as Still Crazy After All These Years, Graceland and Homeward Bound, before closing the show with a mesmerising rendition of The Sound of Silence.

Politics largely took a back seat, though Paul did make a passing reference to "strange times" before American Tune - a 1973 track inspired in part by Richard Nixon's re-election.

David Walliams, Humans' Emily Berrington and DJ Simon Mayo were just a few of the 'slebs in attendance.

Following the success of Tony from TRNSMT Festival (and one or two others of recent weeks), Latitude Festival saw another talented Killers fan, Henry, step up to the plate - or rather the drum kit - to play on their track For Reasons Unknown.

Speaking before their headline slot on Saturday night, full-time Killers drummer Ronnie Vannucci Jr told MNL that he's been enjoying a little downtime during their sets of late while this now regular scene plays itself out.

But is he worried that his job could be under threat?

"Not so far but that doesn’t mean it can't happen!," he said.

    Quote Message

It gives me a nice break, I get to jump on guitar for a while. I'm older now, I need a break and this serves as a nice inter rock 'n' roll respite.

Frontman Brandon Flowers said they intended to "sprinkle Las Vegas fairy dust all over the place" and they were good to their word.

En route to the Suffolk festival, they passed through London and saw the "peaceful protests" against US President Donald Trump.

Brandon said: "One beautiful thing is that people are free to do that and share their thoughts and sometimes frustrations - with someone - so that's one positive thing about the world we’re living in.

"I guess that’s one way to look at it.

This summer, the band have enjoyed their longest run of UK dates in over 10 years.

Hailing from the desert city of Vegas, frontman Brandon said they've been loving the heatwave ("we're used to it") and admitted they'll miss certain things when they return to the States soon.

"So many things we’ve grown to love and they're a part of our life here...

"Scones, clotted cream and jam... crumpets – we can't get that stuff so we go through withdrawals after a few months of eating it.

"Have a nice bap with some streaky bacon."

Whilst Liam, Brandon, Solange and co were living it up at Latitude in Suffolk, artists like Skepta, SZA, Dave and Childish Gambino (pictured above) were playing the Lovebox festival at its new location in West London.

"I understand you had an unwanted visitor this week," said Pharrell Williams of NERD (pictured below), referencing US President Donald Trump who made his first visit to the UK.

"We stand for the resistance," he continued.

"They came to your country because they want to divide you but we don't believe in that. We believe in inclusivity."

The star was one of several US acts who urged UK fans to resist the rising tide of right-wing politics.

"We got to fight that stuff," said Saturday's headliner, Childish Gambino.

"I know it's scary - because we know what happens to people who fight. But we got to stick together."

Rock ‘n’ roll star Liam Gallagher performed a surprise set at Latitude Festival on Saturday before storming the stage during The Killers' headline set.

The unannounced singer, who not-so-cryptically announced his arrival in Suffolk that afternoon, grabbed the mic while Brandon Flowers was – as is now tradition - selecting a fan from the crowd to play drums on their track For Reasons Unknown.

LG declared: “Proper rock ‘n’ roll star stars do their thing and then get [drunk].

“I don’t know the words to nish but I thank the Lord that he does. So I’ll just say hello and leave you to Brandon to do his thing.

    “Manana.”

The Killers told us before the set that they hadn’t planned to do a cover but shortly after the surreal incident, they honoured Liam by ripping into an impromptu rendition of “the greatest B-side ever”, Acquiesce, by the Mancunian’s former band Oasis.

Liam later confirmed he had been asked to join them for the cover "but said no as I'm not desperate."

The Vegas band later dedicated one of their own songs, When You Were Young, to the man himself.

On the weekend that US President Donald Trump visited the UK, frontman Brandon also gave an impassioned speech, containing one of his "favourite quotes" from Dr Martin Luther King.

"Hate cannot drive out hate – only love can do that.”

Earlier in the day, during his own actual surprise guest slot on the BBC Music Stage, Liam joked; “Who do you think it was gonna be here then?

    “I only found this morning!”

The previous night US R & B/soul superstar Solange sent a rather more direct message to the US President (which we can’t repeat on here) during her intense performance of protest song F.U.B.U.

"UK!" she declared, before later narrowing down her search to Latitude.

"It's an honour to be with you tonight."

The singer – aka Beyonce’s sister – captivated the crowd with pitch perfect renditions of songs like Grammy-winning Cranes in the Sky and Don't Touch My Hair, from 2016 album A Seat at the Table.

Knowles Jr, who famously attacked her brother-in-law Jay-Z in a lift, for his alleged infidelities, beamed: "I want to turn this festival into a church" and later "a high school party".

Essentially a party church, were people were encouraged to "get down".

She certainly achieved that and music fans of all ages were spotted around the Obelisk Arena stage trying to replicate her karate-esque dance moves, theatrical hair flicks and twerks.

"I have so much gratitude in my heart," she added.

"I want to thank you guys for the space for this evolution."

Her performance was one of the luckiest things that has happened to any crowd on Friday the 13th.

Alt-J headlined on Sunday night after their friends Wolf Alice but perhaps the hardest working band of the weekend at the family friendly hippy festival were international seven-piece Superorganism.

They played three sets in total, the second of which was another secret (sat down) set for BBC Music Introducing on Sunday evening.

Former MNL Newbie Tuesday pick and local lass Bessie Turner headlined the same stage on the Friday and you can listen back to her on Zoe Ball's Radio 2 show, which came live from the festival on Saturday. It also includes chats/performances from Jessie Ware and The Charlatans.

We'll bring you word from backstage with the likes of The Killers, Wolf Alice, Alt-J, Superorganism and Rothwell later today.

Just as soon as I locate that after sun.
