Money must be too tight to mention in the Li household.

The Swedish singer lets the music do the talking in the promo for her latest single; Deep End.

The whole thing has been filmed on a camera phone and we warn you, it gets a little steamy towards the end of this wild night out.

We hope she's more wrapped up for Belfast on Friday for the Biggest Weekend.

  3. Wet Red: The Moscow band with the ear of Vladimir Putinpublished at 14:57 BST 21 May 2018

    Wet RedImage source, Jamie Macmillan

Russian glam-punk rockers Wet Red were one of the best dressed bands down at Brighton beach for The Great Escape this weekend (as you can see in part two of our computers v songwriters video below).

The Moscow band told us they were impressed with what "a big and energetic city" Brighton is.

They do try down in Sussex.

When they are not walking around admiring English coastal towns, the band rehearse right around the corner from the Kremlin - aka Russian President Vladimir Putin's house.

"It's about 500 metres," said singer Eva Vostroknutova,

"We have an apartment on the main street, with a perfect rooftop 360 degrees view."

"Sometimes we think that our president listens to us and enjoys our music," added the band's synth player Fedor Kandinsky; grandson of famous Russian painted Wassily Kandinsky.

"We want him to listen to our music."

"He has no choice," adds Eva,

    "We are too close!"

    Vladimir PutinImage source, EPA
    Image caption,

Vladimir Putin: "Play Caroline again... that's my favourite."

As well as being a rather flamboyant frontwoman, Eva is also a famous DJ at home and will be spinning some discs at private parties around the football World Cup.

So keep your ears peeled if you're out there cheering on England (or indeed anyone else) this summer.

The band formed part of a Russian showcase at TGE and we'll tell you about another frankly unforgettable Russian act later in the week on MNL.

Wet Red's Great Escape, however, was almost over before it began after Fedor forgot the chargers for his synthesizers ("It was the biggest fail of my music career").

Don't you just hate it when that happens.

Luckily he managed to borrow/buy some.

Check them out below and then try to imagine how different that might all have sounded unplugged.

They have previously worked with artists including Chuck D and Common and have just recorded their latest album Understand What Black Is.

The gents told Mary Anne Hobbs they would like to work with "Lamar Kendricks".

How do musicians feel about AI stealing their jobs? Part deux

Earlier we heard the views of Alma, Au/Ra and Trampolene on whether or not AI writing and producing songs is a good thing or not.

MNL spoke to a load more bands at The Great Escape this weekend about the coming of the computer age, including Free Love - formerly Happy Meals - (pictured above), Stereo Honey and Aussie singer/songwriter Stella Donnelly, as well as Skinny Pelembe, Russian band Wet Red, LA kids The Regrettes and ONR (scroll down for more from him).

As one or two of them pointed out, wasn't all of this German 70s band Kraftwerk's dream all along?...

After a whole weekend playing gigs to impress industry types at TGE, some of these guys will be requiring a re-boot themselves today.

Electro singer/songwriter ONR turned Brighton's Paganini Ballroom into an all-out rave on Friday night.

The artist, who makes "high energy electronic music, with hints of indie/pop and rock", spoke to us before the first of five specially curated BBC Music Introducing gigs in association with The Great Escape, external and the forthcoming Biggest Weekend.

ONR - aka David Shields - was joined by the incredible Mahalia, Alicai Harley and Ten Tonnes, who will play across various sites at the giant BBC festival next weekend.

The Scot is back off to Perth to perform next Saturday but not before three more big gigs in Leeds, Bristol and Reading this week (see details below).

"It's amazing, when we got the call to say it was happening, it was incredible.

"Playing with Ten Tonnes and the others is going to be awesome.

"We've five dates and finish at the Biggest Weekend in Perth so it's like a home show for us."

    He added:

Having just driven down from the Scotland, ONR hadn't yet caught any of the action when we spoke to him on Friday afternoon but he was looking forward to getting stuck in.

"I love it, I came to The Great Escape last year as a punter and you end up stumbling on things naturally,

"Like last year Aurora totally blew me away and I've been a big fan since."

He seemed especially keen to get at the ballroom's disco ball at his own show.

So if it did get smashed then at least the festival know where to send the bill.

    Media caption,

Artists share their thoughts on the impact of AI (Artificial Intelligence) on music

Back to The Great Escape now and among the brilliant music being played at venues throughout Brighton, minds superior to ours also discussed the impact that AI (or Artificial Intelligence to non-science geeks) will soon have in music.

The topic is not new, with artists like Taryn Southern having already used AI to compose songs.

We put the question of whether computer algorithms can ever really replace human songwriters to some of the artists playing at TGE.

Some of them seemed scared. Some of them are down with it.

Brooklyn art punks Bodega performed live for Steve Lamacq at The Great Escape down in Brighton on Friday, after we left you.

The New Yorkers told the 6 Music DJ about the inspiration behind their socio-political new track; How Did This Happen?, which has been all over the music station of late.

"It's like the old feminist saying; 'the personal is political'," said Ben Hozie from the band.

"For example, if we wanna talk about what's going on in the American political situation, we don't want to speak in platitudes.

"What we can only speak about legitimately is our own experience and our own hypocricies and that's kind of what Bodega is all about; examining our own lives."

As well as Bodega, Steve spoke to Irish quartet Pillow Queens, Radio 1's Phil Taggart (about the BBC Music Introducing night - more on that later) and even the new Mayor of Brighton.

Listen back to the show in full or skip to around two hours, 10 minutes in for Bodega,

Tranquillity Base Hotel and Casino caused quite a stir when it was released 10 days ago as it mostly centres around Monkeys frontman Alex Turner tinkling on a piano while singing in high falsetto about a fictional leisure complex on the moon and the "Martini Police".

In other words; a world away from the chip shop observational rock of their debut.

Despite all the online hullabaloo about their divisive sixth record - which arrived without a lead single - it has still become the fastest-selling on vinyl in 25 years, the Official Charts Company confirmed.

TBH + C sold 24,500 vinyl copies in its first week of release.

It is also their sixth consecutive number one album, knocking The Greatest Showman soundtrack off the top spot.

    Morning folks.

We hope you all had a fun weekend and didn't get too sun burnt in between watching the Royal wedding/cup final.

We left you on Friday at The Great Escape new music festival in Brighton, by speculating over what song Meghan and Harry would have for their first dance.

Turned out the Royal couple and various celebs shook their collective booties to this Whitney floor-filler above.

We'll you bring you more from TGE today, including one of the big acts that is making his way from Brighton to Swansea for the Biggest Weekend, via a city near you, plus plenty of bands on the prospect of AI potentially taking over their jobs.

Also today we'll have news from the Billboard Awards, tell you how the divisive Arctic Monkeys album did on its first week and there is a new video from Lykke Li plus godfathers of rap The Last Poets want to work with with the genre's current king and Haim react to Nicki Minaj's SNL sketch, which poked a little fun their way.

Enjoy a bit of Whitney while we get the pebbles out of our kit bags and we'll be right back with you.
