Mike Ahern Mike AhernBorn and bred in Liverpool and a friend of one or two of the Beatles, Mike became the housewives' offshore choice on both Radio Caroline North and when he went to Radio Caroline South in 1965. "Your DJ Mike A" left Caroline in 1967 to join the team that was first on air with the new Radio 1. He has since worked in commercial radio in both this country and Australia. He was Programme Controller at Essex Radio, and this Easter makes it a hat-trick of appearances on Pirate BBC Essex.  Tony Blackburn Tony BlackburnTony became the youngest DJ on British Radio when he joined the Radio Caroline South Ship in July 1964. Tony left Caroline and joined rival Radio London in 1966 but left just before it closed down to join the BBC as a presenter on The Light Programme's Midday Spin. He opened Radio 1 in September 1967 and has since worked on BBC London and in commercial radio. This Easter Pirate BBC Essex will re-unite Tony with Arnold, his legendary radio dog, for the first time in a quarter of a century. Arnold’s ageing well!  Paul Burnett. Paul BurnettPaul presented Breakfast on Radio 270 after leaving the RAF. Paul's theme tune was "Perfidia" by Bob Miller and His Millermen. He left 270 to join Manx Radio. From there he moved to Radio Luxembourg and later Radio One. He’s had a top 10 song with pal DLT as Laurie Lingo and the Dipsticks.  Dave Cash Dave CashDave was one of Britain's pioneering pirate broadcasters, making his debut on Radio London, off the coast of Essex. "Kenny and Cash," his show with the legendary Kenny Everett, was loved by millions of listeners and set Dave off on a career that's lasted more than 40 years. Dave was one of the launch presenters on the "happy, new sound" of Radio 1 in 1967 and can now be heard across the south of England on BBC local radio every Saturday and Sunday evening. Dave is a Pirate BBC Essex original, having helped the project hugely since before its launch in 2004. Ray ClarkRay now presents the nearly all speech Breakfast programme on BBC Essex each weekday, but he started back on Radio Caroline in the 80's under the name Mick Williams, but says he still gets a bit seasick.  Ray Clark He was more used to another form of transport before the ocean wave… as an Essex bus driver.
