It is being built off the coast of Essex. An offshore wind farm is being constructed off the north Essex coast. The Gunfleet Sands farm will provide power to around twenty per cent of Essex households. In a ground breaking ceremony which took place to mark the beginning of the construction, councillors and dignitaries gathered along with Frits Kristoffersen, Project Manager, at Holland on Sea. The wind farm will be situated 7km off the coast near Clacton, and on a clear day will be visible from the shore. When the construction is complete there will be 48 wind turbines in total, helping to contribute to the governments plan to cut CO2 emissions by 2010.
