But what kind of developments are proposed and how can the county accommodate them all? BBC Essex reporter Andy Gordon starts his investigation on the train. Tens of thousand of new people are expected to come to Essex in the next decade as part of the Thames Gateway regeneration. The plan is to attract people with a mix of skills and abilities, and there are promises the current population will also benefit from the improvements.
