William & Nigel with gardening advice
Nigel Harrison & William Jenkyns
Nigel Harrison and William Jenkyns

Gardening advice comes in two forms on BBC Radio York.

But regardless of when you listen, Nigel Harrison and William Jenkyns are the chaps who can help with your gardening dilemas.

On Saturday morning (between 8.10 and 9.30am), Nigel Harrison joins Adam Tomlinson on the Saturday Breakfast Show to sort out listeners' queries on the phone. You can submit questions to this new gardening Phone-In on the BBC North Yorkshire website's Gardening section.

Nigel lectures in Horticulture at Askham Bryan College, near York, and appears as a regular panelist on William's Sunday Down to Earth programme

On Sunday, (between 9 and 10am) Down to Earth features William Jenkyns catching up with gardeners across North Yorkshire as he visits those for whom gardening is not just a hobby, it is part of their life. This programme is repeated on Wednesday nights at 8pm. You can also listen again to this programme online, for up to a week after it was broadcast.

Listen to last week's Down to Earth.

On-air for nearly a decade, the programme has tackled a wealth of gardening issues from every corner of North Yorkshire.

There is a waiting list of 18 months for the programme to visit gardening clubs around the county, so we should be visiting a club near you soon.

Down to Earth was also voted Radio Gardening Programme of the Year by the Garden Writer's Guild in 1999.
