| | Tim Wedgwood - the Facts!
Born: 13th April 1972, Newcastle-under-Lyme Star Sign: Aries Lives.. back in Staffordshire, after breaks in Cornwall and Nottingham... and more than happy to be back.
Career History/Big Break... After a stint in hospital radio (aged 15) I started to pester the people at BBC Radio Cornwall who eventually let me become tea boy. On my 16th birthday I was given the job of tape reclaimer. Basically I had to recycle all the old tapes so they could be used again. Soon after I began writing and recording a five minute pop music feature for the Sunday afternoon rock show.
I moved back to Stoke for a place at the then North Staffordshire Polytechnic (now Staffordshire University). At the same time I knocked on the door at BBC Radio Stoke and they said they needed an announcer to fill in the gaps between the programmes on a Sunday. My first big break came when someone overslept and I had to present the Sunday afternoon youth show 'Mix FM' with five minutes notice. I then presented it regularly for the next three or four years.
I then took a job in Nottingham. I presented the lunchtime show, the drivetime show and then breakfast. It was then I was asked back to BBC Radio Stoke when their breakfast presenter moved on... and you know what they say, "There's no place like home!"
Likes: A lie-in.
Dislikes: Brussel sprouts
Claim to Fame... I played the part of a mechanic in a training video for Halfords. I'm regularly spotted by their staff! Well... not really. They clearly don't know talent when they see it.
Any other interesting facts... I was once arrested live on-air and taken to a makeshift prison cell where I had to raise a thousand pounds to help homeless people in return for my release. People were so generous... I was out in three hours.
