Eight flower arrangers from Northumberland and Durham were invited to represent the National Association of Flower Arranging Societies at Chelsea this year - an invitation that comes only once every 20 years!
BBC Radio Newcastle's Garden Mania programme followed their progress for months as they prepared for the big show in the cold of a farmer's barn, surrounded by snow and lambing sheep.
We also helped the team find some of the 90 branches of birch they needed for a mammoth floral display, six metres square and almost as tall!
Chelsea Gold
They depicted the towers of Durham Cathedral and their reflections in the waters below using thousands of plants including lilies, roses, hippeastrums, chrysanthemums and paeonies.
Marian Foster
The stunning display won a gold medal - a superb achievement!
As a thank you to BBC Radio Newcastle listeners for their support, the winning team made up a bouquet of flowers for Marian Foster.
