Julia Hankin
Julia Hankin Julia is a magnet for the big names in cinema, television, writing and the stage.

Julia absolutely loves talking to people, and not just the rich and famous (although she would quite happily chat to Alan Rickman all day long!).

When she's not at work, Julia can be found in her bathroom...enjoying those quiet moments!
Julia Hankin
Place of birth: Dunfermline, Fife - but you can't tell.
Favourite place or view in the North East: The beach at Warkworth.
First record you bought (single): "Chanson d'amour" by Manhattan Transfer (I was very young).
First record you bought (album): "The Kick Inside" by Kate Bush.
Previous jobs: Loads, including somewhere that made plastic pipes (many happy memories of flirting with my now husband over the electrofusion line).
Best thing about working in radio: Every day is different and it's so much FUN!
Most interesting person you have interviewed for the radio: So many...but some of my most memorable are David Attenborough (totally charming) and Michael Winner (totally horrible).
Best thing about your show: The fact that I can't answer that in a sentence! The unpredictability, talking to the listeners, the range of guests, the live music...
Person you would most enjoy being stuck in a lift with: Alan Rickman because he's a fabulous actor and SO sexy.
Favourite party game: Imagining the above!
Where you are when you get most of your inspiration or creative thoughts: In bed (I keep a book by my bed to capture 3 o'clock bright ideas and other nocturnal ramblings!).
Funny sayings you like to use: "Shy bairns get nowt".
Proudest achievement: Joining BBC Radio Newcastle and completing the 2002 Great North Run in one piece.
Where you go for quiet moments:The bathroom.
Memories of teachers at school: I was lucky to have some fantastic teachers, including the late Oliver Heron who told me "never use words you can't spell". Thats why I use very short words.
Favourite playground game or rhyme: I used to try to do that thing with two tennis balls against a wall (!) but I was hopeless.
Any habits, annoying or otherwise: Trying to do too many things at once and then forgetting to fin.....
