I am terribly sorry that you are dissatisfied because you could not find a little End Of Story book.
Unfortunately we only printed 20,000 of these free books as a promotional game for the launch of the End Of Story competition. The Treasure Hunt had the flavour of a 'golden ticket' type way of getting a head start in the competition and is not the only way to enter.
The competition is website and phoneline based giving the maximum number of people access. The stories are downloadable from the web site, www.bbc.co.uk/endofstory or can be sent to you direct if you register via our phoneline, 0901 293 22 11. (Calls cost £1)
I am sure you can understand that it would not have been financially viable for us to have printed enough free books for everyone who wanted to enter the competition to be able to have one and again I am sorry that your search for one of our little books ended in vain. I can assure you that every effort was made for the books to be exactly where the clues said they would be, although they disappeared extremely quickly because of some very early birds!
The launch programme and all accompanying promotion, including the web site make every effort to explain the Treasure Hunt and the purpose of the little books as part of End Of Story.
I do hope that this explanation goes some way to making you feel a bit better and that you will still enter and enjoy our competition.
And as of Friday 23rd of April one of the few locations with books remaining in stock is the relatively remote Base Station for the Nevis range at Aonach Mor.
