Coldcut - the original cut 'n' paste mavericks - celebrate the legacy of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop with a very special night. The Radiophonic Workshop was the place where the Doctor Who theme was created and whose legacy has inspired a legion of electronic music producers.
Gideon Coe hosts a panel discussion with very special guests to discuss the methods and creativity of the Workshop's output. Our panellists include Dick Mills, one of the original members of the RWS who amongst other achievements helped to create the iconic Doctor Who theme as well as the voice of the Daleks. Joining him will be Mark Ayres, a freelance composer with close links to the Workshop who has since gone on to preserve and archive the work of its many and varied composers.
Coldcut will then perform a 45 minute live DJ mix incorporating classic Radiophonic Workshop compositions with live sampling of the original gear, in a evening devoted to the pioneers of electronica.
