Kasabian with the
BBC Concert Orchestra
Saturday 28 October 2006
Main Space, Roundhouse
Kasabian's mission to make each gig a celebration saw another conquest here at the Roundhouse this evening. They more than pulled off their ambition to perform with a full concert orchestra and turned the venue into one huge party.
It was a highly powerful performance from the band and their special guest Zac Starkey (son of Ringo Star) who became the band's second drummer for three songs. Lead singer Tom Meighan proved himself to be a brilliant showman as he draped himself in a Union Jack and demanded the crowd sing along to all the words. Tracks like 'Processed Beats' and 'Club Foot' sent everyone wild.
By the time the band close with an epic version of 'L.S.F.' it's hard to know who's loving it more - the crowd or the band. "It's been f****n' monumental!" declares lead singer Tom Meighan as the band have a group hug and depart. The entire crowd continue to sing the final track's chorus as they pile out of the building and into the Camden night.

I watched the performance on TV and it was amazing wish I was there! Im an ageing old hippy who loved Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix etc who all played at The Roundhouse and only watched Kasabian cos of my daughter Jen who loves them, I am now a fan of this brilliant band and of course it was very special for me to see Zac Starkey play what a brilliant drummer, just like his dad.

My boyfriend and I travelled up from Newquay in Cornwall to see Kasabian, well what can I say, they blew our minds, we had the best night of our lives. Kasabian were absolutley fantastic, we managed to get three rows from the front and moshed all the way through. Wringing wet, we left with the crowd all chanting the last track Lost souls forever!! WOW!!! cant wait to see them again...

Thought it was pretty crap to be honest. Sorry lads, but its not hard to sound "empire" when you have a 60 piece orchestra backing you up. And still, you didn't sound that "empire" to me.

Me and two friends travelled over two hours to see Kasabian at The Roundhouse, was it worth it? YES it was worth every second of the journey. The lads were on top form and played an epic set with the BBC Orchestra, the sound was amazing and I didn't want the night to end. A big thank you to the BBC for putting the Electric Proms on, give yourself a huge pat on the back.
