We never really know what we're going to do when we enter the stage, we just see what happens.
Guillemots with the
BBC Concert Orchestra
Saturday 28 October 2006
Main Space, Roundhouse
The Main Space bears a striking resemblance to the Royal Albert Hall tonight as the full sixty piece BBC Concert Orchestra assume their positions on the stage. There's an air of expectancy as Guillemots join them and the conductor raises his baton. Together they perform a wonderfully eclectic set that features megaphones, a theremin and animal masks.
The band's theatrical performance evokes images of mystical lands and fairy tales as the band don animal masks and bound around the stage bashing their various instruments.
But this is more than mere pantomime, it's a confident display from the band, lead by Fyfe Dangerfield. The music gels beautifully with the orchestra, particularly on 'Rising Tide' and 'Bad Boyfriend'. But it's recent single, 'Trains To Brazil', that gets the warmest response from the crowd.
Set List:
Little Bear
She's Evil
Rising Tide
Bad Boyfriend
By The Water
Trains To Brazil
Sao Paolo

This was an amazing concert!! after seeing the guillemots a few weeks ago in Liverpool i was a little disappointed. but i was pleased to see that everything that was missing and more, was shinning from this proms show. i really hope there are more of the same. This concert showed the guillemots at there best!

Guillimots encompassed everything the Electric Proms was all about. They used the BBC Symphony Orchestra to lift their mystical, magical music high into the stratosphere. They should be at the proper Proms next year - how about it BBC?

Band of 2006! One of the most breathtaking concerts I've been over the past few years. I went to see Kasabian (that by the way, it was a great gig), but these guys joined by the BBC Orchestra were absolutely MAGICAL!!! Truly beautiful fearless crafted piece of music. I can't wait to see them live in a full set concert!!

Fantastic set at the Roundhouse last night. Fyfe's scoring of 'Bad Boyfriend' and 'She's Evil' demonstrated what a unique talent he and the Guillemots possess. Performances like this justify the very inception and hopefully ongoing existence of the Electric Proms. More please...and put it on proper telly next time!
