BBC Radio Solent's 100 Lives

Everyone has a story - and BBC Radio Solent wants to hear yours in a ground-breaking project for 2008.

BBC Radio Solent 100 Lives

BBC Radio Solent's 100 Lives project will offer a unique snapshot of life in the 21st century by following the lives of 100 people over the year.

And with your help, the project is set to be the largest study of its kind ever undertaken on the radio station!

Perhaps you're expecting a baby, about to launch a new business or looking for a place to live. You may have recently divorced, are a full time carer or studying for exams - whatever the chapter in your life, we'd love to hear from you.

A cross-section of people has already been invited to take part in the project but there's still plenty of room for you to share your own story.

So whether you work or not, are taking further education or just busy living - we want you to get in touch.

The legacy of this unique look at life in the 21st century will live on for many years with the creation of a special record held by the Wessex Film and Sound Archive.

Nick Barratt - the BBC's 'Who Do You Think You Are?' family historian - says the project is a fantastic way of keeping our personal history alive;

"Unless we made a determined effort to record the present, and our recollections of our own lives, our descendants in decades to come will find it very hard to understand who we were.

Once the chain of oral history is broken, it is impossible to repair - so make an effort talk to your relatives, not just the older generation but the younger one too, so that our stories and lives are not forgotten"
