About TARDIS Cam

What is TARDIS Cam?
TARDIS Cam allows you to follow the TARDIS through time and space, visting old worlds, and a few new ones. It contains pictures and video clips.
Does it contain new material?
As well as clips from some classic old Doctor Who adventures, TARDIS Cam also includes some new material created for us by the BBC's Visual Effects department, under the supervision of Mike Tucker and Nick Sainton-Clark. This material is a mixture of model work and CGI. There's also some video footage of the TARDIS in its current home - the BBC props store.
How much new material is on the site?
We'll be rolling out the new scenes over the coming months. You'll see some pictures of quite a few of the scenes Mike and Nick have created, but the video clips will be gradually released. The next big update will be shortly before Christmas - you'll get to visit Mitucus Minor.
Um, where did you get those dates from?
Being a time travel show, Doctor Who's chronology shifts and changes as he tinkers around with time, so precise timings are often difficult. We've used a very thorough fan resource - (the Doctor Who Chronology) - as a basis for a lot of our dates. This site decides that, lacking other evidence, adventures may have taken place in the year of their original transmission.
Why do you use Real Player for your video clips?
BBCi uses RealMedia because it believes that this is the most widely distributed format for streamed media content over the internet. We are also looking at supporting other formats in the future.
Can I see the new footage at a high resolution?
Some of the takes from TARDIS Cam have been released as extras on Doctor Who DVDs.
