Episode Five contact sheet

02
Deep in the Dalek spacecraft, Lesterson watches in horror.

03
Beneath him is a Dalek factory, where Dalek mutants are fitted into their casings...

04
... each one adding to the ranks of a Dalek army...

05
... ready to emerge and destroy the colony.

06
Lesterson is appalled at what he has found.

07
He runs from the craft.

08
Back in his laboratory he attempts to seal up the ship.

09
His assistant Janley is unimpressed by his ravings. Lesterson switches off the Daleks' power.

10
He tries to contact the Doctor, but discovers he is in prison. Lesterson plans on melting down the deactivated Daleks.

11
Lesterson's stunned when one glides out from the craft - they aren't as reliant on his power as he thought. He runs from the laboratory.

12
The Daleks decide to wait a while longer. 'We are not ready yet to teach these human beings the law of the Daleks.'

13
Lesterson runs through the colony, looking for the Doctor.

14
Janley returns to the laboratory, her colleague Kebble leading the Doctor's companion Polly.

15
She's been taken hostage by Janley's rebels.

16
Polly can't believe Janley trusts the Daleks to help the rebels take over the colony.

17
Kebble takes Polly into the craft.

18
Janley discovers the Daleks are laying cable to create their own power supply - static electricity.

19
The Doctor and deputy governor Quinn are locked up in adjacent cells.

20
The Doctor explains how the Daleks run off static electricity to an incredulous Quinn. It doesn't help that the Doctor is making noises with a glass of water.

21
The Doctor is trying to generate the right note to break the sonic lock on his cell.

22
He just doesn't have enough water.

23
Lesterson bursts in, warning the Doctor that the Daleks are reproducing and fitting their own power supply. He's taken away by the guards.

24
Calmly, the Doctor asks for a little more water...

25
With the governor away, the Doctor and Quinn locked up, and the rebels working for him, Bragen has effectively gained control.

26
He's angry to be disturbed by a ranting Lesterson.

27
Lesterson is terrified of the Dalek servant in Bragen's office.

28
He tries to persuade Bragen that the Daleks are plotting to take over the colony.

29
Janley arrives, telling Bragen that Lesterson is suffering from stress. She leads him away.

30
Polly watches as Valmar sets up the Dalek's power supply.

31
She tries to persuade him that the Daleks can't be trusted by the rebels.

32
Valmar is interested - he's concerned at how powerful the Daleks are.

33
Polly begs him to listen: the Daleks aren't their friends. They have 'a kind of hatred for anything unlike themselves.'

34
Kebble orders her to shut up.

35
Out in the corridors, a Dalek is laying cable.

36
Hensell, the colony's governor, has just returned from his trip. He's concerned at the way Bragen is asserting his authority.

37
Hensell storms into his office, to find Bragen in it.

38
Hensell demands an explanation from Bragen for his behaviour.

39
Bragen calmly announces that he is now in charge of the colony.

40
Hensell calls for the guards to take Bragen away.

41
The guards, however, are now loyal to Bragen.

42
Hensell is furious.

43
Bragen tries to persuade him to cooperate, but Hensell refuses.

44
Bragen orders the guards away, and a Dalek enters.

45
Bragen has something to show the governor.

46
Hensell isn't interested.

47
It's a Dalek gun.

48
Nervously, Hensell watches as Bragen fits it to the Dalek.

49
Bragen orders the Dalek to kill Hensell. He throws up his hands...

50
... and is exterminated by the Dalek.

51
Impressed, Bragen removes the gun from the obedient Dalek. 'Why do human beings kill human beings?' asks the Dalek.

52
The Doctor and Quinn, having escaped from their cells, are creeping into Lesterson's laboratory.

53
They watch as Valmar emerges from the capsule, going off to complete the Daleks' power supply.

54
Inside, Kebble is holding Polly hostage.

55
Quinn and Kebble fight...

56
Quinn knocks Kebble unconscious. The Doctor, Quinn and Polly run from the lab as Daleks emerge from the capsule. The Doctor blocks the doors with a wrench.

57
The Daleks realise they are trapped in the laboratory...

58
... and melt the doors.

59
The Dalek army is waiting in the capsule while the human beings fight among themselves.

60
'Then we will strike ... and Exterminate.'

61
The Doctor, Quinn and Polly discover Hensell's body.

62
The Doctor finds that Bragen is using Hensell's death as an excuse to declare martial law.

63
Bragen orders them taken away.

64
The Daleks are preparing for war. 'Daleks conquer and destroy. Daleks conquer and destroy...'
