The Moonbase
Episode Two contact sheet
Jamie lies helpless in the Moonbase's medical bay.
The Cyberman heads towards him...
... and reaches out for the Scot.
Jamie protests before falling unconscious.
The Cyberman turns away...
... and collects another victim of the virus.
Polly enters and screams at the departing Cyberman.
By the time Hobson and the Doctor enter, the Cyberman is gone.
Polly explains what she saw...
... but Hobson doesn't believe her.
He is confused - how are people being removed from the base?
Hobson orders the Doctor and his companions off the Moon.
The Doctor knows they must stay. 'There are some corners of the universe which have bred the most terrible things. Things which are against everything we believe in. They must be fought.'
Ben listens as Hobson gives the travellers 24 hours to find the cause of the illness.
The Doctor starts his examination.
He'll need to look at everything - starting with the victims.
The Doctor explains his qualifications - he took a medical degree in Glasgow in 1888.
In the command room, they're fighting to control the Earth's weather.
The Gravitron unit is behaving oddly.
There's a major hurricane sweeping across Earth...
... and they're struggling to control it.
If it gets out of hand, there will be a catastrophe.
As the team perform frantic checks on the equipment...
... they receive an urgent communication from Earth.
The hurricane has already swept across Florida.
Benoit is convinced they should shut down the Gravitron.
However, Hobson thinks that would be even worse.
Hobson orders Benoit to check the potentiometers.
Benoit dons a protective helmet and enters the Gravitron chamber.
Hobson realises he has to end the crisis.
The Moonbase is completely isolated.
Earth orders them to mend the Gravitron quickly.
Hobson, Niles and Benoit begin running tests.
They start checking each system...
... and oddly, each system they check appears to be working perfectly.
They try the tests again...
... with the same result: the Gravitron's systems seem fine.
As they work, the Doctor scurries around them. He's collecting scraps of paper and equipment.
His behaviour doesn't go unnoticed. Hobson wants to know what the Doctor is doing with a boot.
Polly is confronted by a Cyberman in the medical bay.
The Piper
The Cyberman stuns her with a crackling bolt of power.
Jamie backs away in terror...
... and the Cyberman knocks him unconscious in the same way.
Turning away from Jamie, it takes another body, and leaves.
The Doctor finds Polly's unconscious body.
In Moonbase control, a sudden air pressure drop is reported.
In the storeroom, a Cyberman is emerging from a hidden entrance.
The air pressure returns to normal.
Hobson thinks he's found the cause of the problem.
One of the antennae outside the Moonbase appears to be broken.
He sends two men out to examine the broken ariel.
Jules and Franz head out onto the moon.
Polly is concerned...
... because the Doctor doesn't appear to be making progress.
He's been unable to impress Hobson, who is convinced he's to blame.
Out on the Moon's surface, Jules and Franz find the broken ariel.
They start to repair it...
... not realising that they're not alone.
Two Cyberman attack...
... and kill them savagely.
Inside, the virus claims another victim.
Within seconds the veins have spread over his body.
The Doctor realises that the man was drinking coffee.
The virus must have been in the sugar - it attacks the nervous system.
The Cybermen have deliberately engineered the virus to infect the base.
The Doctor realises something else. Hobson's men have searched every inch of the base...
... except for the medical centre!
The Doctor's fears are confirmed. A Cyberman has been hiding in one of the beds!
NEXT WEEK: The Cybermen reveal their plans.
