The Moonbase
Episode One contact sheet
Leaving Atlantis, the TARDIS is seized by a mysterious force.
The Doctor is fighting to bring it back under control while Ben, Polly and Jamie cling on.
Abruptly, the TARDIS lands. The scanner shows a desolate landscape.
Could it be Mars, as the Doctor promised?
Ben's not so sure - he thinks it's the Moon.
Landing on the Moon
Reluctantly, the Doctor agrees. It is the Moon.
The TARDIS only missed by two hundred million miles.
Ben and Polly want to explore.
Jamie still can't believe they're on the Moon.
They go off to find spacesuits.
The TARDIS has landed in a crater near a spacecraft.
Suited up for the airless Moon, the time travellers step outside to explore.
Polly sees lights from the craft, but the others are too busy getting used to the low gravity.
Jamie jumps too far and lands unconscious in a gully.
The others rush to his aid...
... and realise they're not alone.
Jamie is lying against a giant, domed base on the Moon.
Two figures emerge from the moonbase and carry Jamie in...
... leaving the Doctor, Ben and Polly trying to get in.
The moonbase is a giant weather control station.
It controls the earth's climate with its Gravitron.
But all is not going well. Technicians are collapsing...
... with a mysterious black-veined virus...
... that leaves the victims in a coma.
While Nils fights to keep control of the weather...
... base controller Hobson meets the new arrivals.
They're suspicious...
... but badly in need of a Doctor.
Benoit explains how the station works...
... before another man falls ill with the virus.
The Doctor watches as they fight to regain control of the weather.
Hobson contacts Earth to warn them of their problem.
Three men have now fallen victim to the virus.
Nils has noticed something disturbing.
Their communications are being monitored...
... by someone not too far away.
Inside the spacecraft...
... their every word is being heard.
The Moonbase learns they are being placed in quarantine.
The Doctor visits Jamie in the sickbay.
He finds that Polly is worried about Jamie.
The young Scot is afraid the phantom piper will come for his soul.
The Doctor learns that the base's doctor was the first victim.
Benoit and Hobson are working late to keep the Gravitron stable.
Benoit sends Ben to help Ralph in the stores.
Ralph is working alone when Ben finds him.
A shadow passes on the wall while Ben looks for supplies.
Ralph finds something odd in the stores...
... but he's not alone.
A mysterious, silver figure stuns Ralph, leaving Ben alone.
The Doctor is intrigued...
.. by the scrap of metallic cloth which he has found.
All is not as it should be on the Moonbase.
The station's medic wakes up screaming.
Dr Evans is afraid of a silver hand.
Hobson isn't impressed...
.. that Ben has lost Ralph.
He's nowhere to be found.
The Doctor enters and announces that Dr Evans is dead.
Hobson refuses to report the incident. He hasn't enough data.
Polly is looking after Jamie.
He sees a shadowy figure moving behind her.
Polly screams as a mysterious figure exits the sick bay.
The Doctor and Hobson arrive to find Evans' body gone. They're called away by a crisis in Gravitron control.
Polly goes to get some water, leaving Jamie alone as a silver figure enters and heads towards him.
It is a Cyberman.
