Jensen from South Devon

So who are Jensen? From left, Hayden Jones (drums and backing vocals), Raj Crompton (guitars and vocals) and Phil Andrews (bass and guitar). We come from Torquay Why "Jensen"? Nope, it's nothing to do with the car. Raj suggested the name, inspired by Jensen speakers. It took 6 months to finally come to an agreement, though. How did the three of you get together? The band was formed around two years ago. Phil and Raj had known each other for years but had never really played or written together. They decided to give it a go and Hayden joined the ranks after an ad was placed for a "like minded drummer". | "It's a jawbone of sound, that you hear in your head": so says the cover of Jensen's CD |
What's the story behind the track you've chosen to demo - "Hannah walks away"? It was an original idea of Phil's from 3 or 4 years ago, prior to Jensen. But it saw the light of day again and was completed by Raj who re-wrote most of the lyrics. Complete the sentence: "If we become famous..." .....We would probably just behave like spoilt children with lots of cash, and live the rock 'n' roll dream - like most rock stars. What do you consider the best and worst things about Devon? Best - Well it's got to be Raj, Phil and Hayden hasn't it!. Worst - it's really difficult to get gigs when you're a non-cover band. There seems to be this prevailing attitude towards original bands and their music.
If you play covers you're much more likely to secure a gig in a pub or a club than if you play all your own material - and that's sad!.
Three words that best describe Jensen's music? Listen for yourself.
Musical heroes? We don't really have heroes, we just enjoy good music.
So when and where can we catch Jensen? The Piazza, Torquay, January 18th 2001. More to be confirmed.
