Much of Devon's natural beauty is down to the rivers which meander through all parts of the county - north, south, east, west and central.

The county is awash with water, with several rivers heading into the the sea at Devon's north and south coastlines.

The rivers help to make Devon such a popular place for visitors who come to take in the riverside scenery.

They're important to the holiday and leisure industry, and they're vital for the environment as well.

Our rivers are home to habitat and wildlife, and it's essential they are maintained to a high standard.

For centuries, the waterways also helped thriving industries such as quarrying, textiles and agriculture.

So join us on a tour of Devon's major rivers by using the links on the left. We'll be adding further features - such as the Taw and the Torridge - in the coming weeks.
