Tell me about the time before Olas?
I've been writing and performing music for 10 years in different bands. At one stage Riot Management (Feeder) were interested in us, but I've put so much effort and energy into bands that have split up that I decided to go solo.

...and the name?
Short for Nicholas. It was my nickname at Uni.

Let's talk about your music. Can you sum it up in three words?
Observed, acoustic, groove.

Living a beach life on the Devon coast has given me inspiration and the track I've chosen to demo embodies acoustic guitar, modern grooves and observed lyrics.

Olas reckons the current music scene consists of "mainly commercial rubbish" and thinks that if the new music licence prevails it will kill grass roots music.

It's called 'Perfect Cloud'. What's the story?
The general theme is that it doesn't matter whether you are rich or poor, there are magical moments in life which we should enjoy.

If you could have three guests to dinner, past or present, fictional or not, who would you invite?
Kate Beckinsale - Excellent actress, well fit!!

Who do you list among your musical influences?
The Kinks, RHCP, Massive Attack, Portishead and Reef, however my philosophy is to contrast not compare so take a listen and decide for yourself.

What do you consider the highs and lows of living in Devon?
Great surf on a regular basis but the weather's not so good. It rained for 52 days in a row in my first year at Uni.

And what about the future....?
I'm currently on a year placement as part of my degree at Plymouth Uni. I'm studying Environmental Science but my placement is in the medical industry. I will always play guitar and perform live but I would also like to buy a boat and travel. AND earn enough money so that my girlfriend can go horseriding all day, everyday!
