The instruments you play are a little different to the norm... Russell plays oud (an Arabic lute) and daf (a frame drum) and Jon plays tabla, daf and various percussion.
What's the name of the track you've decided to demo? It's called 'Lavanta'. It captures the spirit of our music - a mix of composition and improvisation. Can you describe your music in three words? Indo-Arabic fusion. | | Jon Sterckx |
What do you consider the highs and lows of living in Devon? It's a fantastic natural environment - a great inspiration and aid to creativity. The lows are the lack of venues to play in.
Whose records do you have in your collection? Everything from Indian pop through minimalist to blues, rock, medieval, reggae and rap. We'd love to perform with Indian fusion masters SHAKTI. | | Russell Harris |
Complete the sentence "when we become famous"... ...lots more people will get to hear and appreciate our music.
Your music is very different to most of the other demos on this site, what do you think of the current music scene? There needs to be more support for a greater diversity of live music, like more venues and better programming.
And finally, here's your chance to sell Taaliqa.. Taaliqa are two highly gifted, committed musicians with a unique style, highlighting the diversity of influences in today's music scene.
