Originally you were just 'Flip'...?
I was originally called Flip but that turned into DJ Flip before the current name, Fila Flip, came to me in a flash of light!

It all began for me about 1997/98 when I got into electronica and DJ-ing in New York City.

I came to Devon in 2002 and continued with my music but now I'm writing more with guitars mixed in.

All put together with a computer?
Yes it's just me, my Mac and my mouse. I play guitar and sing and program the parts, the computer figures it all out and helps out a lot, I make the tea and the mouse is just essential!

How would you describe your music?
Dancey, atmospheric and energetic.

What's the name of the track you've decided to demo?
It's called Affinity. It's a 142BPM journey around some coastal roads in my mind - but there are NO SPEED CAMERAS!

What do you think of the current music scene?
What we see on TV is mostly at the 'pop' end of the scene. There's a lot more out there and now, thanks to the web, we can access so much more music which we wouldn't otherwise hear or see. So overall I think it's good.

Whose records do you have in your collection?
Er, let's just say from Abba to Zeppelin and just about everything in between.

I
f you could invite three people, present or past, to a dinner party - who would it be?
Good question! Salvador Dali to amuse us, Tina Turner to tell us a few stories and dance about and Jimi Hendrix who could supply us with some, er.... records!!

Complete the sentence "When I become famous.."
...I'll buy you a drink!

Sounds good to me! Finally what are the highs and lows of making music in Devon?
I'm currently based in sunny Dawlish, home of the Black Swans. The highs are the beautiful sea views and the Exe estuary. The lows would have to be the traffic jams!
