Tell us about Jodie...? I'm 19 - this week (March 2005, Happy Birthday. Ed) and I've been writing songs since I was at school at Uffculme secondary. I've been gigging solo for about a year now.
Recently I've had some cool gigs like supporting Roy Wood's Army in December of 2004.
Have you had other supporting gigs that you're pretty proud of? Supporting Van Morrison in the summer of 2004! There were 2½ thousand people there. It was amazing! | | Album cover |
What's the name of the track you've decided to demo? It's called 'It's Like Love'. It describes what love is like without saying that it IS love. You come from Uffculme in mid-Devon. What's it like living there? Devon is just beautiful but it's sad to see so many new places being built.
The worst thing about being in Uffculme is being so far from the centre of the music industry. I have to travel a lot to get to a gig.
Whose records do you have in your collection? Suzanne Vega, Eddi Reader, Avril Lavigne, Vanessa Carlton, Counting Crows, I could go on forever... | | In reflective mood |
OK then, if you could invite three people to a dinner party - who would it be? The big bosses at Sony, EMI and Warner and then I'd perform to them!
You've got to make the best of these opportunities.
How would you deal with fame? I'd try and be a good role-model for younger girls. And if I'm rich I'll have Ribena on tap, too!
Basically, though, I'm just singing it as it is. Open, honest words that I really mean - and hoping that it sounds good.
What do you think of the current music scene? I think it's pretty good. There's a lot of variety, which means there's more space for me! |
