Paige's School Report diary:Monday 11 February 2008, Dartmouth Community CollegeĀ Today we are having a practice day for the BBC News Day on 13 March. Finding StoriesWe have started to look at different news stories and picked five. Out of that five, we have to pick one story we like the most. Then, using the five W's, we wrote about the story. I have picked the story about a North Sea oil platform being evacuated after a bomb alert. ![]() Paige checking her notes After about an hour and a half, Ben, the BBC reporter, gathers us around a table to talk about different positions in a news report. While we were sitting around the table, Ben asked us what stories we had found. We have chosen five stories, sport and weather. We need to be ready for 2:25pm. Gathering the NewsI have interviewed some students from my class and noted their comments. Sammy: Wrote a story and got information. Helping another student with the weather and drawn a big map. Ashley: Interviewing people about food poisoning in schools. Interviewed teachers. Jordan: Looking at fire cameras, videoed the interview. Layla: She feels very nervous about presenting the weather. Broadcasting the NewsWe are now about to broadcast, this is so exciting. Everybody is really nervous about broadcasting but it will go well I'm sure. Just done the first run through, it went well but we needed to speak louder. Now we are going to do a second run through, let's hope it goes better than the first. last updated: 19/02/2009 at 14:58 SEE ALSOYou are in: Devon > School Report > School Report: Dartmouth diary |
