The voting is now over and the responses have been sifted through to work out which day was favoured by most people. Therefore, we can now reveal... ![]() It's taken weeks of ideas and discussion on Andy Whittaker's Breakfast Show on BBC Radio Derby to get to this point, but Option 3 has been given a resounding endorsement with a whopping 64% of the vote. People felt that the anniversary of the launch of the Derbyshire Flag was the best choice, especially in the absence of specific dates relating to the creation of Derbyshire as a county. It also fits in with tourism officials who felt that a date away from high season would be best and this date is likely to fall in term time so schools can be involved too. ![]() The Derbyshire Flag Derbyshire Day will also be a day when people are likely to fly the Derbyshire Flag with pride, so people felt it was fitting that the two were connected. The losing dates were 28th July, the anniversary of Derby's city status with 25% of the vote and 12th May, Florence Nightingale's birthday with 11%. Now that the date has been revealed, it's up to groups, organisations, clubs and businesses to organise events and activities to mark the day.
