An experimental bus lane on Duffield Road has been met with a fair amount of opposition from people living in the area. Critics of the trial say creating a bus lane has made the other lanes too narrow and made the stretch dangerous for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians. This week the Duffield Road Action Group (DRAG) met with representatives from the city council and bus companies to voice their concerns. And one group member, Simon Bucknell, has made a short video highlighting some of the hazards caused by the change. Derby City Council have now agreed to bring forward a review of the scheme from six months to three months. But Chris Wynn, the cabinet member for transportation and planning, says the lane is working and has cut bus journeys into the city centre by 15 minutes. |
