Download line-up news

This year's Download Festival is headlined by Iron Maiden, Linkin Park and My Chemical Romance.

Friday 8th June 2007

Thousands of metal fans have arrived at Donington Park for this year's Download Festival.

More than 70,000 people are expected to attend the event with around 60,000 camping there.

My Chemical Romance are Friday night's headline act, Linkin Park top the bill on Saturday and Iron Maiden bring the festival to a close on Sunday evening.

Monday 14th May 2007

Individual day tickets for this year's festival have now gone on sale priced at £60.

Organisers have also released the final batch of camping tickets, although these are only available to people who have already bought weekend tickets.

Thursday 10th May 2007

Another 17 bands have been added to the Download line-up which brings the total number of acts on the bill to more than 100.

The new additions are Silverstein, My Alamo, Fastway, Cat The Dog, Damone, Voodoo Six, Priestess, In This Moment, Fair To Midland, As I Lay Dying, Flood Of Red, Army Of Freshman, Lost Alone, Eliot Minor, Cynic, Panic Cell and Architects.

Thursday 18th April 2007

Another 18 bands have been confirmed for Download 2007 - plus details of how the stages will be split up.

The new additions are: HELLYEAH, Biffy Clyro, Billy Talent, Papa Roach, Mastodon, Aiden, Hinder, From Autumn to Ashes, Reuben, Reel Big Fish, Hayseed Dixie, Between the Trees, Kids in Glass Houses, Necro, Lez Zeppelin, This Et Al, Hardcore Superstar and Beyond All Reason.

They join a bill which already included My Chemical Romance, Iron Maiden, Linkin Park, Korn, Motley Crue, Enter Shikari and Slayer.

Organisers have also revealed the music will take place across three stages.

Wednesday, 7th March 2007

Break out the Jack Daniels and back-comb that barnet, for LA hair-metal legends Motley Crue have been added to the bill of this year's Download Festival.

The band's original line-up of Nikki Sixx (bass), Vince Neil (vocals), Mick Mars (guitar) and Tommy Lee (drums) reformed in 2004 for the Carnival of Sins tour and have most-recently been touring the States with fellow reformed caners Aerosmith.

After bursting onto the rock scene with their debut record Too Fast For Love, the Crue embarked on a roller-coaster career which touched base on the sort of rock'n'roll behaviour - drugs, alcohol, celebrity wives, stolen sex-tapes, reality TV, snorting Ozzy Osbourne's urine - that makes Pete Doherty look like a mischievous schoolboy.

They even unwisely went a bit "industrial" at one point before their accountants realised that what the fans really liked was flashbombs and men in mascara. And what's not to like about that?

It's not their first visit to Donington Park, where they played previously at the Monsters of Rock Festival.

A biopic about the band, based on their seminal warts-and-all book "The Dirt", is currently in production. It's also yet to be confirmed whether Lee will bring along his infamous "T*ttycam", which he uses to beam pictures of jiggling lovelies in the crowd onto side-stage screens.

Also added to the bill for this year's Download are goth-metal grumpies Evanescence, Gallows, 30 Seconds To Mars, Enter Shikari, Machine Head and Bowling For Soup.

They'll join headliners My Chemical Romance, Linkin Park and Iron Maiden over the
weekend of June 8-10.

Wednesday, 31st January 2007

My Chemical Romance, Linkin Park and Iron Maiden are to headline this year's Download Festival.

Tickets have gone on sale for the event, which takes place at Donington Park from June 8-10.

Emo rockers MCR, who had a number one hit last year with Welcome To The Black Parade, are the main event on Friday night.

Nu-metallers Linkin Park are headlining Saturday night and the evergreen Iron Maiden will close the event on Sunday night.

Previous headliners include Metallica, Guns N' Roses and Black Sabbath.

Also on the bill are Korn, Velvet Revolver, Dragon Force, DevilDriver, Lamb of God, Dimmu Borgir, Slayer, Wolfmother, Marilyn Manson and Bring Me the Horizon.

Tickets (including camping) are £145 for the weekend.
