Thousands of people taking part in this year's 10k run in Derby will be wearing a t-shirt designed by a four-year-old girl. | | Charlotte's original drawing |
Budding designer Charlotte, from Chellaston, entered a competition to come up with a picture for the front of the free t-shirt handed to everyone taking part in the race. Now organisers have picked her design as the winning entry and thousands of t-shirts are being printed ready for the big day. Charlotte says the picture shows her and her school friends running round their playground. And while she thinks she's a good runner, she's a little too young to enter the race herself. | | Franca and Charlotte |
Franca Hood, from race organisers Sporting Futures, said: "It'll be brilliant for her to see so many people wearing her design on the day. "It's been great to be part of something which is reaching kids everywhere and we're pleased with how many are getting involved." The race takes place on Sunday 14th May, starting and finishing at Pride Park stadium. The event, which attracted over 2,800 entrants last year is organised by Sporting Futures, a local charity which uses sport and recreation to encourage social inclusion throughout Derbyshire. |
