This £12 million, high-tech facility forms a major part of Derby College's plan following the merger of Mackworth, Broomfield and Wilmorton Colleges in 2003. It will eventually accommodate up to 1,500 students. The centre will be spacious with a contemporary feel and have a large, bright atrium on the ground floor. Further features include a 110-seat lecture theatre, nine state-of-the-art IT suites, three science laboratories, 20 classrooms, an art and design studio and large student common room in addition to a well-equipped resource centre, shop, restaurant, cycle racks and underground car parking. A-level courses will be transferred from the College's Prince Charles Avenue site as will all level 3 courses for 16 – 19-year-olds from Derby Colleges' other sites.
