Derby 1-0 Plymouth

A match with few chances for both teams but a fantastic free kick from Idiakez secures three points for the Rams. Derby will need to improve though if they want to stay in the play-off positions.

Kick off 3pm

So, here we are again - it's Saturday afternoon football time again and this week Derby face the challenge of Plymouth.

Plymouth boss Bobby Williamson must decide whether to recall Tony Capaldi, who is available after suspension.

But Lee Hodges is still out with his back injury, while Steven Milne and David Worrell both have knee problems.

Meanwhile Rams star Jamie Vincent is back in training but not ready for first-team action after his hamstring injury.

Mo Konjic could return for Derby after being rested against Wolves in midweek as he continues his recovery from a long-term injury. Nothing is certain though - we shall have to wait and see!

Match updates from Rams fan Steve Smith

It's absolutely freezing today - the wind is really whistling around Pride Park Stadium. Tudgay has even got his gloves on!

The traffic is also causing major dramas - someone has altered the settings on the traffic lights at the Cock Pitt roundabout and they're changing every five seconds! Glad I'm not stuck in the jam - It's horrendous out there!

The players are out now - lets get underway!

15:10

I think Plymouth must still be stuck on the A52!

Early possession is all Derby at the moment but no chances on target as yet. If they carry on like this, it’s bound to happen soon.

Derby are really pushing forward and cutting through the Plymouth defence like a warm knife through butter - total domination so far!

15:20

No goals as yet! It's Derby all the way though - they've almost run Plymouth off the pitch! If they carry on like this, fitness will definitely play a vital role later on.

Plymouth haven't made any impression - It's highly unlikely they will be able to break our back line down. Set pieces and corners are their only hope and so far they've been few and far between.

15:24

Unbelievable!! 35 yards out and Idiakez stuns everyone into silence, followed by cheers of amazement!! Derby go one up in an exceptional display of fantastic football - this one really was special.

After been given a free kick so far out the goal was a mere haze, Idiakez pounds the ball past absolutely everyone! Even Beckham would have been proud of it!

15:35

Derby are still dominating but Plymouth appear to have woken up a bit! They're still not really in a challenging position but are definitely showing more fighting power.

Plymouth player Chadwick is making himself known, whacking into Rams players left right and centre. After taking out Konjic the ref has a word in his ear but to be honest he's missing most of it - he may as well not be on the pitch as some of his decisions are dubious to say the least!

15:44

Half time looms and Derby keep on pushing forward. Tudgay manages to get his head on the ball but it flashes wide past the goal. Two minutes of extra time to play!

Half time

16:00

Despite being one goal up, Derby still need to make more chances if they want to guarantee a win. The Idiakez goal is the only proper chance the Rams have had and Plymouth haven't had any proper attempts at all.

The players are just about to reappear so here we go!

16:05

Once again Derby hit the woodwork. Idiakez is lucky to bring the ball down but hammers it into the post!

If there was an award for hitting the woodwork Derby would be clear cut winners - 23 times so far this season!

16:15

Oh dear oh dear oh dear! A foul from Konjic in the box gives Plymouth a penalty.

Wotton steps forward to face Camp head-on but misses by a mile. If he'd been kicking for a drop goal it would have been perfect - shame he's on a football pitch really!

It's a mighty let off for Derby and a shambles for Plymouth.

With 20 minutes to go it's still Derby one up, but only just.

16:30

This referee is getting odder and odder. BBC Radio Derby's Ross Fletcher says even he could do a better job!

Despite being one nil up Derby really aren't looking comfortable. Chances are coming much more readily for Plymouth and they are looking far more together. Chadwick has a shot on target but Camp is easily there to collect.

Into the last 15 minutes and Plymouth have definitely come for a game in the second half!

16:40

Heads and hands are flying everywhere! First of all Peschisolido heads the ball over the bar two yards out on an open goal. It looked like a hand was in there too but the referee missed it!

Five minutes later and a blatant hand ball from Coughlan is also missed - someone forgot their glasses this afternoon - it's getting ridiculous!

16:50

Plymouth are out there all guns blazing now and throwing everything at the last few minutes of this game. Coughlan picks up a corner kick but places it straight into the hands of Lee Camp - still they push forward though.

16:55

Less than a minutes of extra time to go and the Rams get a late break. Idiakez drives the ball from one end to the other but once again the woodwork gets the better of us. Oh well, the final whistle is blown and it's all over.

Derby escape with three points but to be honest, their form isn't looking good. An average Plymouth really pushed Derby to their limits.

They will need to do much better a week on Wednesday if they want to make the play offs.

fanastic free kick from idiakez just has good as beckham does keep up the good work

Who cares how we got three points? For once I agree with Murder Mackay who, in so many words, said that the method of obtaining a victory was immaterial the three points being the most important thing. If we can't win our remaining games with a 3-0 margin then I'll just have to be happy with juicy 1-0's.
Tony Moore

another forward, and tighter midfield is needed.

Its great to be a Derby fan at the minute but bloody hell me fingernails are bitten to a quick, sometimes Derby seem passionate and organised and within minutes seem apathetic and suicidal, shame we can't have "time-outs" in football so Burley can keep 'em focused...come on you Rams play-offs ere we come.
Jim Harris

poor second half, we should have put the game to bed in the first half, but glad for the points! at this stage its all about the points though so well done lads all deserve a few days off! can i just ask does anyone know what was the emergancy exit for after the game at pride park???? and what that boy found?
laura

Derby must believe that they can go up this year and a win today is vital to stay in the play offs.If Rasiak and Idiakez stay with Derby they will do well in the premirship and may surprise a few as Wanchope did a few years ago.Come on you Rams!!
