Read our report and take a look at our galleries. Hundreds of first year students put the seal on a fortnight of partying by putting on their best pulling clothes for the University of Derby's Freshers' Ball. The event was the final part of Freshers' Fortnight - two weeks of revelry to mark their arrival at the university. Use the links on the right-hand side to look at our 'celebrity' pics from the evening.Spirits were in the sky as the happy little souls packed into the student union bar, The Arms, and the event also had a marquee to allow people to chill out with a nice slice of pizza. Entertainment came courtesy of bands The Departure, Chikinki and a storming DJ set from BBC Radio 1's The Cut-Up Boys. Student Emma Holt, from Salford, said: "The bands weren't really my sort of thing but the disco was good and I've had a laugh with my friends. Student Union president, Kevin Gillespie, said: "It's been hard work to set up but I reckon it was worth it. Everyone I've spoken to seems to have enjoyed themselves." Now these new students face the tasty prospect of three more years of hedonism - although they should probably try and fit a bit of work in at some point too. last updated: 18/09/2008 at 10:29 Have Your SayYOU LOOK DRESSED TO ROCK AND ROOL GO PULL GIRLS i love having fun a uni i like being young as in stupid and childish You are in: Derby > People > Your Stories > Fresh faced |
