Circuit of Wales: environmental concerns over proposals

Conservative environment spokesperson Antoinette Sandbach led the short debate on 21 January on the Circuit of Wales, and outlined her concerns with regards to the proposed racing track.

The north Wales AM said the proposals involve "huge risk" and major environmental damage.

Ms Sandbach urged the Welsh government not to commit further public money to plans for a £315m motor racing circuit at Ebbw Vale in the south Wales valleys.

The proposals will go to a public inquiry in March.

The Welsh government has given a £2m grant towards developing a scheme promising to create thousands of jobs and attract 750,000 visitors a year.

Ministers say further support depends on all the required private funding being secured.
