Seamus Heaney remembered by MLAs
Assembly members paid tribute to the poet and Nobel Laureate Seamus Heaney who died at the end of August, on 9 September 2013.
The SDLP's Patsy McGlone said he wanted to pass on his sympathies to the poet's family and described Heaney as "a poet of huge renown and a man of the people".
Ulster Unionist Michael McGimpsey described him as "the greatest poet of his generation".
"It will be a long time until we see his like again," he said.
Heaney was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1995 "for works of lyrical beauty and ethical depth, which exalt everyday miracles and the living past".
Over his long career he was awarded numerous prizes and received many honours for his work.
He died at the age of 74.
