On 14 January 2014 the Culture Media and Sport Committee is took evidence of the future of the BBC from representatives of political website opendemocracy.net, media research firm Enders Analysis and media journalist Steve Hewlett.

The government has promised to look at the funding of the BBC and update the organisation for the digital age before the next Royal Charter, which sets out the BBC's structure and obligations, in 2016.
