| | A personal view from Henry Swan
I hadn't been shopping for years, not really. Generally, get my car as close as the blue badge would allow and a few painful steps to pick up carefully planned and researched essentials.
So the thought of a free, full blown, wind in your hair, shop 'til you drop spree filled me with joyous anticipation if not ecstasy.
I parked right outside the door in a reserved disability space and was welcomed by the staff who gave me a full run down of what to do, signed me up (member 2999) and gave me a test drive.
Within ten minutes I was descending to street level in possession of a speedy little number that was mine from 10.00am - 4.00 pm. Whee Heee, freedom.

My first stop was the opticians where I negotiated my way the counter and picked up my new specs without any problem. Then on to Marks and Sparks for the serious part of the day. No problems there, they took my money with a smile and I could negotiate the aisles and displays with ease.
 | | | | Just as well that I didn't want those photographs | | Problems at the Public Loo almost ended in disaster |
On my way through the Market Square, my wake up coffee was making demands on my plumbing, so I headed to the Old Town Hall in search of disability loo. Down the slope to the door, where a neat printed notice informed 'Key up the stairs, in the Tourism Office'.
Unbelievable, as the internal pressure was beginning to overwhelm external resistance and I wondered about the penalty for returning a urine soaked scooter and more seriously, the possibility of my conveyance becoming a genuine electric chair!
 | | | | Just able to negotiate around the aisles of this record shop. | | Debenhams great interior, shame about the doors. |
An observant street cleaner solved the problem and I proceeded to Debenhams to complete my shopping trip which, once I had been helped through the impossible doors by mobile shoppers, was a Grand Prix experience.
If you are short of mobility, don't hesitate, use Shopmobility. It restores your ability to shop until you drop or in my experience, wet yourself.
