Learning to Drive

Sheila tells how she found learning to drive to be one of the best things she has ever done.

What's your story about?

My story is about learning to drive and passing my driving test. It was one of the best things I have ever done .

Why did you choose to tell this particular story?

I have a lot of friends who can’t drive and I hope my story will give encouragement to women of my age who think things like learning to drive is not something they can do. Well it is! If I can do it any one can.

What was the experience of making your digital story like?

I have enjoyed making my story. It is something I would never have the opportunity to do without the help of the BBC Bus. I never realised making films was such a difficult job. It is a good job it was only 2mins long or else we would have been here for the next ten years

Please tell us about yourself.

My name is Sheila Ogden. I was born at Skelwith Bridge near Ambleside in 1944. I was always wanting to have a go at something new. I was a bit of a dare devil and even when I was very young I enjoyed riding my little trike and then my scooter, and then best of all my bike. I went all over the place with my friends. I am married with four grown up children who all learned to drive when they were young. I made sure they did not leave it as long as me.
