Kimberley Boak, our Blast reporter

Blast 2006

Blast is back again, and this time it has a sporty slant, find out about our new reporter here...

Hello!!

As this years BBC Cumbria’s Blast Sports Reporter I thought I’d take a couple of minutes to let ya know who I am and what I’m going to be getting up to.

I’ve just finished my A Levels at Cumbria Institute of the Arts, where I was studying Media, English Language and Literature, Communications and Performance Studies. I’m going to stop on there and start a Journalism degree in September, should everything go well with my results!!

I work part time in a leisure club, as a life guard and gym assistant.

Sport has always been a big part of my life, I swam competitively from the age of eight through to seventeen for City of Carlisle and Cumbria, as well as playing football for Carlisle City Girls, which encouraged me to go on and take my F.A Level 1 Football Coaching Badge.

During my time at BBC Radio Cumbria I’m going to do a project focusing specifically on swimming in the local area and some work at Carlisle United, as well as providing coverage on the many other sporting teams within the county.

I was thrilled to gain a place on this years Blast programme as it’s hopefully going to provide invaluable experience that will be extremely useful going into a journalism course.
