Remember with a poppy

The 2007 Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal has been launched. Remembrance Sunday is only a couple of weeks away and poppies are now available.

Poppy Appeal Facts

  • Singer Tori White, who hails from Worcester, has released the 2007 Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal single, Please Remember.
  • The Festival of Remembrance at The Royal Albert Hall will take place on 10 November.
  • The 2007 Poppy Appeal was launched with the Poppy Man. He represents the help The Royal British Legion gives to currently serving and ex-service people and their families.
  • You can now give virtual poppies, download poppies onto your mobile phone and send poppies via email.

The British Legion are appealing for a new generation of poppy collectors to give as little as two hours of their time to distribute poppies and remember ex-service men and women, as well as those still in service all around the world.

Many of the previous volunteers who have given up years of their life to support the Poppy appeal are now retiring, and the legion would love to recruit some fresh and enthusiastic volunteers to carry on the cause.

There are loads of ways for you to get involved; selling and distributing poppies or meeting ex-service men and women who are now housebound and would love a friendly visitor.

If you would like to get involved and give some of your time call Lucy Grafton, CSV Community Catalyst on 0845 900 5 300 to find out how.

You can also donate and pick up a poppy at the BBC Coventry and Warwickshire Open Centre in Priory Place, Coventry.
