On Yer Bike!

Our Spring CSV campaign is all about getting you out and about on your bike. Don't panic if you haven't got your own bike, you can borrow one from the BBC Coventry & Warwickshire Bike Bank.

Coventry's Cycling Facts

  • In 1860, bicycles began being manufactured in Coventry
  • James Starley, a Coventry based manufacturer of bicycles, has a building named after him at Coventry University
  • In 1887, the Humber Bicycle factory opened in Coventry
  • A large collection of bicycles can be found at the Coventry Transport Museum

With more and more traffic on the road, and now that Spring has sprung, there's never been a better time to leave the car at home and get on your bike! It's not just your health that will benefit, but the environment will be better off too.

From 30 April to 5 May, CSV Action at BBC Coventry & Warwickshire will be asking you to polish off your pedals and spruce up your saddle as we look at the history of the bike in Coventry, hear some inspiring Me and My Bike stories and join Annie Othen as she looks at the debate of the bike versus the car.
