I remember this day like it was yesterday. Classic moment " Look at John Sillet the're level after 9 minutes" Great moments and it was and still is one of the classic fairytale stories of David beating Goliath. " David Pleat is numbed by what has just happened" This Cup Final gave me such excitement and well done to the management team at Coventry. Everyone looked at them and said basically don't turn up for the Final it was a foregone conclusion. What a mis quote! Houchen what a finish! I have this on DVD and relive it now and again. From a Leicester fan!!!

From the 60's as a young kidwatching in black and white crying when sunderland beat leeds in 1973 always dreaming of being there with the city but losing at wolves in 1974 still hurts, but those two visits to hillsborough in'87 made those dreams come true.16th may 1987 was and always will be a sky blue heaven

After queueing all the way from the Rocket on Warwick Rd.over Stoney Rd. Bridge to the Station,we were horrified to find that there were problems at Willenhall and we had to go to Nuneaton to pick up a Diesel Engine.Clock Watching all the way, running from Wembley Central to the Stadium just got in with about 3 minutes to spare - no stroll up Wembley Way.Had hardly settled when we went 1 down (Clive Allen), but when Benno scored to equalise more disaster for me- I had only just started wearing glasses for distance and in the celebration of the goal the glasses were knocked off and disappeared amongst all the Sky Blue fans jumping up and down.Believe it or not they were retrieved from about four rows down - the gods in Sky Blue Heaven were on my side and the rest is history what a fantastic day to be followed by the great atmosphere the following day watching the lads on the open bus touring the city.Houchen - What a goal -captured in that photograph on my wall.

I was 6 and I remember the song "Go for it Go for it City... Sky Blues Shooting to Win." I remember the crowd and cheering but I had no clue why the city seemed so happy - All I remember thinking was how much fun it was. Shame the city cant repeat those days!! Ironic that I saw the FA Cup in the Spurs ground years later but hey! Who's complaining - Coventry's still named on it! ha ha

It was a really odd year, myself and 7 mates all bought season tickets BEFORE the quarter finals, which guaranteed us tickets for the final. I know it is old hat now, but we all new we were going to win the cup that year, no matter who we played. We all went to London the night before and there were Sky Blues fans everywhere. The whole of London wanted us to beat Spurs and the atmosphere was magical. One memory from the final was City fans singing "We're gonna score in a minute" we have never sung it before or since, again giving credence to the "Our names on the cup" theory!

Memories which will only happen like this once in a lifetime.I remember as a 22 year old, painting my face white and sky blue. The man in a Sky Blue suit in Wembley Way.Oggy stumbling down the steps after collecting his medal, watch that on any video, it is brilliant. The evening in Coventry, being driven around the city centre on my late friends car bonnet.Oh, and before i forget, the best FA Cup final goal ever!

I was 14 years old and i remember my Grandad getting us a ticket through the old Sky Blues Pools whilst my Dad queued for the other one. When we got to the ground and took our place, there was a couple who decided to snog for the first 10 mins of the game until someone accidently smacked the guy on the back of the head with a handful of handmade confetti. Soon stopped them!!! The whole day got a bit too much for me before extra time and my father caught me just as i was about to drop on to the step behind me..recovered quickly to see the rest of the match and get back in time to the Eastern Green Social Club to watch it on Match of The Day...

I remember it as though it really was only yesterday. The train queue at Coventry, the walk from Wembley Station up Wembley Way. The atmosphere was truly fantastic. Into the stadium and it took your breath away. There we were, standing infront of the "Dave Bennett" flag, everything too much to take in. The first goal and the sickness feeling, the equaliser it all clouded into one. Extra time, the sickness was back, hands shaking nails bitten and then, heavens above, up popped Garry Mabbutt to bring the stadium alight. Killer lifting the cup and then tears of disbelief - we'd actually done it, beaten the favourites. The best day ever in my Coventry City life. The train journey home, the flags in Stoke Aldermoore, people lined the track and you felt as though it was you who'd won the trophy. Walking home from the station, probably more like floating, the whole City was alive. Sunday morning outside the Council House, the truth actually hit us, WE'D WON THE FA CUP and how proud. Thank you George, John and the whole squad for a truly memorable day.

Just think our name will forever be in history as FA cup winners and with the way in which the premiership is heading it will always be the big money clubs that wins from now on

Fantastic memories including the banner which read ' Dave Bennett has laid on more balls than Joan Collins ' being carried up Wembley Way !

What a great time. I can still here the chants of "Are you watching Jimmy Greaves" ringing in my ears.
The best thing to happen to the city.
Lets hope we can reproduce that sort of civic pride sooner rather than later.

Absolutely magical! I smiled for weeks and weeks. It still gives me goosepimples just looking at pictures of the game or hearing 'Abide with me' every year since. For some reason it was on TV on New Years Day (must have been 88) and I watched it again with tears of joy!

What a game and rightly remebered by many not just city or spurs fans as one of the best if not the best cup final. It had everything, one down in a minute level 20 minutes later down 2-1 on the stroke of half time. Then the goal of all goals 2-2 we have got to win this after that. Lloyd everyones little hero crosses and mabbutt deflects we`re up in the air come on ref blow that whistle and then it goes what a day. Still a pleasure to watch and enjoy.

What a year! My (late)grandad queued for hours to make sure my (late) dad, mum, sister and myself could go. We had our Sky Blues on tour t-shirts, blue hair and flags and parked at a friends house in Harrow and walked to Wembley with ever growing numbers of Sky Blues fans. Even when Clive Allen scored there were no thoughts of "oh dear, here we go", it was as if 40,000+ people were kicking every ball and tackling every Tottenham player. When the Lloyd stuck the third goal in(cleverly angled off Mabbutt's knee)it was magic, it was a feeling like no other...one of the best day's of my life..

It was a dream come true when my late father in law rang to tell me he had won 2 tickets in a competition organised by granada who sponsored coventry that year. When Clive Allen scored I thought"well at least we got to the final" but when Benno equalised i realised the dream was still on.At the end I had tears in my eyes, but when i looked around i discovered i wasn't the only one.The journey home up the motorway on the coach was
unbeleivable. As we got into warwickshire people were out on the bridges waving flags and banners.Thank you john, george and the lads for wonderful memories.

I remember the road to wembley like it was yesterday, me, my brother and my boyfriend (now ex-husband) travelled down on the many trains being put on, the queue was right around the roads almost at King Henry VIII school, the match itself seemed to go so fast, it's like a blur, when Oggy came out of goal and Spurs nearly scored I nearly died, when the final whistle blew it felt like a dream, it just didn't seem real, little old Coventry actually achieving something like this, and the critics said we wouldn't win.
