I'm currently in Thailand and the news has made it Here.. I'm currently sitting here with Goose pimples with excitment! It is a great day for the Club and I really hope it is the kick start we need to raise the profile of the club again.Simply Amazing is all I say and hope the money invested is invested properly for the sake of the club and its future..!!!I do hope to here something on the radio.. Keep the good news flowing throughThank youScott "Darroch(Da Rock)"

I would like to see a mention daily on which way M.P.s have voted on any issue. That way they will be looking over their shoulders a little and may become representative of their constituent`s feelings and opinions. I do feel that in this country we are only truly free on Election day. You might even get them on air from time to explain their actions to their constituents. It would have to be kept short of course.
sharon adey
can we pleaseeeeeeeee bring back a 70's/80's bar (flares/reflex) in coventry, it would be great for the people in coventry!!! all my friends love this era and we have to go out of the city to go to a bar that just plays this type of music, why should we have to do this.
Malcolm Turner
When the new station goes on nair will your listeners have the benefit of uninterrupted news broadcasts. I have not listened to the programme for several months now because I am sick to death of continualy having a news item interrupted by either jingles or crossed sory content. I tired again during the earlier part of this week and found that nothing had changed. Perhaps other listeners have a similar viewpoint. I would love to return to local radio but would need some form of reassurance.
Antony Owen
Having read many other comments regarding writers seeking a creative opportunity I would like to add that I too believe that radio is a wonderful medium for giving poets and story writers the opportunity of exposing local talent from Coventry. We are the city that gave the world Phillip Larkin and I support Heaventree press who further the cultural and creative heart of Coventry's Language and Literature. Why not have a nightly 'Bedroom Story for Cotton dwellers' this could serve as a platform for poets and storytellers to showcase their talents and each night could have a theme of love, society, contemporary, sport, loss, hope etc etc. Music could accompany the story and it could achieve a cult following. It doensnt have to be on radio long and may make an artform such as poetry accessible to an everyday audience of which it often ostracises.
Susan
not enough radio stations have rock music playing. It is popular although most radio station dismiss it. This radio station should play a wider variety of music that everyone can enjoy. Therefore you get more listeners, and higher prices from your advertising.

Thanks Gerry for stating the obvious!

The W in CWR stands for Warwickshire;
Gary Anderson
What is Kath on about? Who on earth wants Stuart Linnell back, hes too old and very boring and spends his entire time telling everyone how great Coventry is, not much use if you live in Warwickshire! The new station needs young, talented presenters not old hangers-on like Linnell. The BBC have got rid of him once anyway so hes hardly likely to come back
Richard Carlson
If the people at Coventry and Warwickshire are listening to their audience then they should bring back Rob Guerney to the station, he is Coventry through and through, we currently have to listen to a very sarcastic Clive Eakin, who from his tone of voice does not care as much for our downtrodden football club. The chemistry is there when pairing up the likes of Adam Dent and Geoff Foster with Rob,but it is so apparent that with Clive it is very lacking. So why not bring him back, he was excellent on Saturday! It seems that this would be the greater move for both Rob and Clive as Clive's heart never seems in it and Rob's always does. Thanks, Richard Carlson
James Allen
Have enjoyed listening to the new station this week, but not all the people out there are old. Where are the young presenters? i'm not yet 30 but I feel like im too young to listen!! Having gaunty on is like listening to my dad ranting!
Roy.. Allesley Park
Nice to have Cov & Wark. back on the airways..But please not so much music between 10am & 1pm spot. It seems to be transforming from a talk station to a music one.
Graeme
Now we have had our new radio station for a few days I just have to say how impressed I am with it.
In my previous postings I had expressed concerns about how sport intruded into nearly all the programmes. It is refreshing that we now seem to have a station that is commited to being local and not a dedicated sports station which you were becoming. The number, variety and quality of guests on the various programmes is good, keep it up. The move away from several presenters presenting the programme is good. It was most frustrating before, when there was more than one presenter on the air. It made the listener feel quite excluded, almost an evesdropper on a private conversation. Very well done, just keep it local and exploit the potential that is in the Coventry and Warwickshire area.
Michael Adams
Great to hear CWR back on the air- a real LOCAL station for Coventry and Warwickshire. Live in London, can't wait to visit family in Binley and perhaps the Open Centre- if it's visible enough in the city centre! My only fear for CWR is that Warwickshire news isnt covered enough as its the only local station offering in-depth news coverage. Cov news stories will undoubtely have precedence but please don't ignore the county!!! My other fear is that later down the line is that CWR is closed or diluted again with WM. Hope this new station is permanent.

can you do a show on disability and abilty IE doing a 30 min spot on how disabled folks are getting on with life
Vic Minett (Web Producer)
Hi Michael A new show called The Guide will be broadcast every Sunday from 3pm until 4pm and will feature local theatre groups in more detail. If you have any information you would like included, please email it to [email protected].
Michael Hammond
How about a weekly slot to let everyone know what is going on in the local amateur theatres in Cov & Warks...there are lots of them !you could feature a different one in more detail each week ...
B. Mills
How about a local sports round up? Really local.ielocal amateur soccer matches..cricket matches.. and news from the local Golf Clubs..with news of their upcoming Tournaments..Just a 15minutes round up!

As a Nuneaton Borough supporter I hope, from September, to hear a wider coverage ( especially under that "Warwickshire" remit) of Boro' matters. Especially coverage of away games. Boro have to travel to places like Barrow and Workington this season-very inacessible for their fans.
With modern technology and the advent of mobile phones I'm sure it would be possible to get scoreflashes during any Coventry City broadcasts. Having worked previously for CWR I would prefer a talk format rather than a music one. We have Fosseway, KIX, Mercia,The Bear and plenty of others already catering locally for all musical tastes-but not enough local news and comment. There is an audience vacuum here which the new station can fill.
I live in Warwickshire and I was born in Coventry. Birmingham is a nice place-but I have no great interest in their news stories. Or Carl Chinn. Geoff Veasey

Local radio stations are often percieved to be dull, lacking energy and catering for middle-aged, middle of the road, Daily Mail readers. Hence many young people never tune in to them. The station needs to devote some time to young fresh music and voices along with appealing to broader listeners. Programmes and DJ's need to be clearly indentifiable and individual so you know whether you tune in at 9:00 am or 11:00pm it is going to sound different. Please don't talk about traffic jams or have endless chat phone-ins where people ring to complain about the parking tickets! The station needs programmes that create a sense of place for Coventry and reflect what is emmerging in the city. Reviews and coverage of local events, interesting discussions, give those people a voice that are usually ignored, some poltics perhaps-drag in local MP's and give them aa John Humphreys grilling. Comedy shows would also be great, not just stand up but witty satire and sketches-why not run a comedy competition to find local talent.
As for the music let's hope it's not all Elton john, Norah Jones, Oasis and Status Quo as is the case on most local stations. Cover up and comming bands, review gigs, invite bands in for interviews and live sessions. Most importantly of all play some credible, diverse, challenging music. And please get some sophisticated jingles, links, trailers etc.
M Garrett
So glad a "local" station is coming back, one that everyone can tune in to whether you're 25 or 45! I agree local new talent is the key and also some old favourites. Need someone to wake me up in the mornings who's refreshing and fun! Looking forward to September!
Mark A
At the risk of sounding like someone from 'The League of Gentlemen' BBC Coventry and Warwickshire needs to be a local station for local people! So get rid of those adverts around the ring-road for Heart 100.7 and get some BBC banners up there! The 'Early Breakfast Show' presenter should be able to cover clubbing in Coventry to fun fairs in Fillongley!
Dee D
As others have mentioned, this is an opportunity to divorce ourselves from the West Midlands connurbation and focus on the entirely different feel of Coventry and leafy Warwickshire. I do not identify with Brummies, and never had, much as I like their warmth. I feel we need Coventry and Warwickshire enthusiasts and locals presenting shows, with good local knowledge and affection for things of our area. Current affairs discussions are usually interesting and at last we'll be hearing about issues pertinent to our area, rather than a huge area which stretches up to Staffs and Welsh borders almost! Best wishes with the new venture. I am sure our own radio station will restore a sense of pride in OUR roots.
Will Jones
I´d love to hear a young local person on the radio - someone we can relate to and can liven things up in the morning!

Please please please get rid of clive eakin.Bring back Rob Guerney !!!!

really enjoyed will hanrahan, very "non alan partridge".

I really like what you've done with the place. I had my doubts about it when you guys took over the lease, the square was supposed to be a late-nite eat/drink/entertainment area, but it really works well. I've chatted with a few tourists and they really appreciated the free web access; apparently the staff are very helpful and informative. One request though --- please can we have more live ice-hockey coverage - it was excellent last season :-D
Nice one!
Trev
Fresh new talent is whats needed. will be glad when we switch back to CWR its been missed! would love to see a young partnership formed or bought in from elsewhere really think it could kick the day off in style or even at drive time. PLEASE CWR Something for us 20Somethings, mix of music, humour, guests etc. its what i pray for.
Andy in Leamington
Listened to the cricket the other night...really exciting. Will there still be a place for commentary?
Pauline McFarlane
Ed Doolan is a fantastic consumer presenter but, I would like a completely different station to WM and I can't see them releasing him so, how about Stephan Rhodes for that show? He used to be on where I lived before and he can easily handle that sort of thing... More 'local' presenters that I would like on the new station are Keith Middleton (a daily show) and Norma Morgan (a weekly arts and entertainment show). Good luck with the station, whoever you decide to have on there!
Sally Wills
Hi
I would like to hear more of Ed Doolan, his show is great, bring him to Coventry (not send to)Great for help/information and terrific presenter.
I wonder would it be possible to study Sign Language in the centre as I can find no courses in the Coventry area.
I would also like to see more open air broadcasts from the City centre and surrounding areas, keep the local people involved!
Please keep Annie and Bob, they are great for Coventry. More chat shows, inviting local people to take part, what a way to become THE station for Coventry.
Bring it on and let this previosly forgotten City shine!
Graham Moore
I would like to hear more film related programmes much like Stevie Price did when she broadcasted from West Orchards. The movies are a very trendy subject but not enough exposure is given over to this topic. Don't just let the movies flicker let BBC Coventry & Warwickshire keep them shining bright
John Osborne
Favourite presenter? No doubt about it, Franksy!! He is so down to earth and easy to listen to. Pity we are going to lose him when the new station opens in Coventry.
Worst presenter? Carl Chinn!! This man is so anti Coventry it is unbelievable.
Chris
Hi For the breakfast show. i have an Idea to bring back the old compotitions like wordwise and daytripper
ah-media
Well they say 3rd time lucky. Firstly it needs to be local. A few years ago a radio station in Wolverhampton ran a jingle which said "Less about Coventry, More about Coseley." They were spot on with that. It has to be local. It must be talking about Dunchurch or Southam or Stoneleigh not Erdington or Handsworth. Secondly it needs a new team of presenters. It needs new blood on BBC Coventry & Warwickshire and a break from the "Birmingham" identity.
If I was hiring presenters I would look no further than the immensly talented Bernie Keith on BBC Northampton. As an ex-Mercia presenter he knows the area and is one of the funniest guys on UK radio. Thirdly it needs a coherant station sound. BBC Radio is sounding so stagnant with station identification at the moment. Invest in some quality identification jingles that give the station a total image sound... And don't follow Radio Solent's example of using jingles that went out with the Stone Age ! :) Coventry is desperate for good quality local radio. You have the chance to make this work.
Samantha Deloitte
You know, with a new station, there's a lot of upcoming talent out there I've heard listening to the Cov uni's radio that I'm sure would be an excellent resource to tap into. Also can we have more locally produced entertainment like local bands and artists please?
Frankie D (from Leamington Spa)
I would like the Keith chappy, who has been doing the afternoon show on WM this afternoon (Keith Middleton). He seems to have something for everyone from Jimmy Cricket to Julian Lloyd Webber and Brian Turner. He seems friendly, his voice is appealing as is that naughty chuckle! He's lifted my spirits no end since lunchtime! I think he would be an asset to your new station and I would certainly be listening in to him...
Roger Purvis in Rugby
Localness is very important for the new station, otherwise what's the point? The station will be just like any other, full of northerners that have no affinity with the area. Therefore, Bob Brolly, Lorna Bailey and Geoff Foster must have significant presenting opportunities.
Catherine McInerney
There is no question that Bob Brolly must stay at the station and Lorna Bailey too - being local, warm, friendly and a good journalist to boot - She would do a great daily local news and current affairs programme. The other presenter I would like to see with a daily show on your station is Keith Middleton, who has delivered excellent shows dealing regularly with light-hearted stuff (for example, the show with Shaky he did last Saturday lunchtime), the serious stuff (like the night he dealt with the breaking Rover story) and I even heard him do sport tonight - I can't think of another local presenter, who is as versatile, carrying off whatever kind of programme is asked of him and so popular with us listeners!
DT
One thing I would like to see is the presenters given enough training on the new equipment at the new station. When the Mailbox opened all you would constantly hear the presenters say is "What's this button do?" it sounds very un-professional. Annie and Brolly are fine other slots should be covered by Coventry enthusiasts.
Ruthie Atkinson!
I'll present the morning show!It would be interesting to perhaps feature a few local bands as a feature on the station; there is plenty of talent out there. How about some live,(in studio acoustic), music/interviews and so on?
Paul
With all the discussions and letters to the evening paper on such things as the airport, the state of the roads, parking permits at the arena, pool meadows future and what shops should be in the city centre
amongst the many. I believe a phone in programme is essential and would a good grounding for an up and coming broadcaster/journalist.We locals need an outlet for our oppinions.
nick garrett
We need more local music like pete chambers on bob brolly and how about more chat shows and more rugby
dave
As an expatriate now living in Toronto i would like to hear more news related to what is happening in the Coventry area.It seems to me you spend endless hours on giveaway prizes time which could be better spent in current news and information.Whatever you do keep Brolly just the way he is.
Graeme
The appeal of the new radio station really does have to be broadened. Currently what we have is a sports station, heavily biased towards Coventry City football club. Sport intrudes into nearly every progamme that is currently broadcast. Having read the previous comments it seems clear to me that there are a wide range of views over what the content of the new station should be. One common theme is how under represented other sports and teams are. While I would warmly welcome less sports coverage of all kinds your listeners views must be heeded or you will lose them.
Nick Rogers
I hope the station will be covering Warwickshire as much as Coventry. My personal interest is Leamington FC and I would like to see good coverage of the local sides playing at that level.
AM
This is a new station. It is very important that it is not just another version of WM. It may be a bitter pill to swallow but Ed and the rest have to either stay on WM or join a new CW. There must be no shared programming.
D Craddock
It is most important from day one that this station is Coventry & Warwickshire, and not an hybrid of radio Birmingham. In this way we can concentrate exclusevly on programmes, issues, local events, local individuals which reflect the distinctly and unique area the station will represent. This may mean we will have to survive without the likes of Ed Doolan, who programme would dilute the Cov & Warwickshire to an ofshoot of WM.Good luck and very good wishs for the future.
DC
Linda Smith
I love Keith Middleton and Runaround Sue. They should be together on their own regular show esp. Late Nights since I stay up late.
Thanks!
Mike Smith
Let's hope Annie stays on breakfast she really is excellent. I saw the mention of Phil Holden and I am sure that his unique and slightly sideways look at life could really find a place on the new station. Perhaps a late night show with a great quiz and maybe some debates. Let's hope he is still available for radio presentation - a real genius. It would be a shame to lose Ed Doolan from the morning consumer advice slot - but if you have to, what about Stephen Rhodes (is/was on BBC 3CR)- or a Stephen Rhodes style morning consumer show. That would be excellent too.
I am sure the truly excellent news and sports coverage that is currently available will continue. While I like all the general good quality pop music that tends to get played on local radio - is there any room for a good Jazz programme?
Good luck with putting together a great new radio station - can't wait for it to go on air!
Janet Stanley
I hope that we will still be able to hear Ed Doolan when the new Coventry and Warwickshire station starts. (He is the only one from Birmingham who I would miss now that Tony and Julie have gone!) And I also hope that Annie will continue to be a presenter. I enjoy the Sunday morning religious news and views programme, what about a Christian music programme as well?
ray morris
read all the reports on this page don't know any of the names mentioned radio for me is just music being played while I get on with doing something else, far to much personality cult for my liking, who's Ed Doolan anyway?
Janine Davenport
I know this may be repeating what a lot of other people have put but I wanted to add my comments to the list. I listened to Keith Middleton's show yesterday and it was fantastic. He has the ability to make the mundane interesting, the depressed cheerful, he makes you feel like he's a friend that you have known forever and that naughty giggle cannot be matched. It reminded me just how good he is and how much we need him on our new station.
Jason Doyle in Earlsdon
I was reading the comments below and wondered if all of the programmes on our new station would be different to WM? I'd hate to lose Doolan and Gaunty but would be delighted to have different afternoon and late night presenters! I'd also like to see a couple of shows a week dedicated to CCFC - thanks...
Simone
Please can we have more on Coventry Rugby and other local rugby teams. I also think Lorna Bailey is an excellent presenter especially as she is from the area and really cares.
ST
We need quality local presenters who care about Coventry and Warwickshire for our local radio station, such as Lorna Bailey, and Geoff Foster. Icidently what happened to their Saturday morning show?
koojie
more of keith and sue and lighthearted stuff also easy listening thanks
Rob Orland
It would be nice to hear information and discussions about our local heritage - we've got plenty to be proud of! Also, with a distinct lack of decent 'modern' music, let's indulge in the 1960's & 70's - and why not have more emphasis on the home scene too, with features on talent from Coventry and local band connections.
mikey
i would like to like to see lorna on the breakfast show in place of annie also there must be a slot for stuart linnell
Little Joe
Its a pity we are going to lose Paul Franks, he is the most unbiased presenter on the station at the moment. And his views on life in general, particularly crime and the punishments awarded, seem to be in line with the feeling of most people. I am certainly going to miss his opinions. He really is one of us.
On saying that I am quite pleased with the presenters we currently enjoy listening to.
Kath
Looking forward to the return of a real Coventry and Warwickshire station; I hope though that Ed Doolan will continue to be on this frequency. Annie is great to listen to in the mornings, but it would be nice to see a return in some capacity for Stuart Linnell for some of the more serious, talk stuff. The other person I would love to see back is Malcolm Boyden (irreplaceable!) preferably with Mollie Green who at present we listen to with great amusement early in the morning. We shall miss Mollie if she's taken off the CW frequency. I agree with others that Lorna Bailey is a good local presenter, especially when she stands in for Annie; Liz Kershaw's strong Lancs accent doesn't sound right for this area. And please, don't forget South Warwickshire - we're very much part of your listening audience.
Good luck with the new station.
Ian Ferneyhough
It would be great to go to the good old days of BBC CWR. That was a great radio station and should have not been taken off the air! I just hope the new station will be good as CWR was.
Roy Powers
Annie is good to wake up with and I agree Lorna would be an excellent choice, maybe for lunchtimes as she is a local lass, can inform and entertain and has such a lovely voice to listen to! I would like programmes maybe once a week, focusing on 80's music (a bit like the current Network Gold programme but a bit more modern with someone like Daz Hale who appreciates the era) and another show, highlighting places to go and things to do in Coventry AND Warwickshire... Norma Morgan used to do something similar a few years back and would be a great choice! I also would like to hear Keith and Sue on your Late Show every night... Together they are the perfect tonic, after a busy day, to wind down and relax with before going to bed
Gaynor Greenside
Assuming WM do not have first tabs on their existing presenters - I would like to hear Tom Manners waking me up, Annie with my breakfast, Phil Holden when I am driving home from work, Norma Morgan and/or Daz Hale during the evenings and Keith and Sue to go to bed with... Could we have a Late Show beyond 1am??? I would also love to hear Ian Danter on at the weekend and Michael Hartley on the Late Show on Saturday and Sunday nights too... I would like more local news and current affairs, with a focus on what's on in and around Warwickshire and not so much sport and phone in's as WM currently has...
John Bennett
Listned to Keith and Sue on the way home from work (late shift) more of the same please makes my journey go quicker ;)
Dana
Wouldn't it be a good idea to include Kieth Middleton and Runaround Sue in your new line-up? They are innovative and fun, good to listen to and capable of taking a serious approach where necessary. Let us have more of them please.
Mark Duggan
I would like regular documentary type shows on local places of interest/things to do and features on what became of famous local people... with characters like Karl Chin and Norma Morgan. I would also like to see Bob Broly, Daz Hale and Keith Middleton with shows on your new station.
Paul Jenkins
One thing BBC Local Radio seriously neglects is the Christian Community.
An earlier poster called for a Michael Hartley style 'open line' phone in show. This would be great, wuith church news and Christian Music on a Sunday night.
cathy mcloughlin
Please, pretty please, could you arrange that Keithy and Runaround Sue to work together on a regular show, may be late nights. Together, they are a match made in heaven, full of fun and humour with the extra edge to able to handle serious issues like the Rover crisis. Love to listen to Lorna Bailey too. Thank you for reading my feedback and good luck with the new station.
Tony
Keithy and Runaround Sue make you wanna tune in. More of the same please
carig watson
more music please ?
Tanya
Runaround Sue and Keithy are great together - more of the same please (late at night, to soothe me to sleep!) Thanks.
roy russell
Try to get gaunty involved but I appreciate he's a busy man
no probs with Bob Brolly's opinions on cov football- he's a paying city supporter and worthy of an opinion BUT we want a through and through city supporter to commentate on matches and conduct phone -ins giving biased opinions as per the BBC tv promotion ad for local radio coverage !!
Gurney was good a journalist learning his trade who you always felt would have been at the match anyway
By the way dave Phillips's summaries are excellent
Helen Evans
Could we have phone in's that mean something - on personal issues - like Michael Hartley used to on BRMB in the 80's - get him on the air and you'd be onto a winner as nobody does it better! I also liked the friendly rapport of Tony and Julie's show late at night - I know they have gone now; you should put Keithy Boy and Hopalong Sue in their slot as they have proved they can deliver the business on air! A joy to listen to...
Daniel
i have really enjoyed the ice hockey coverage, and would like to see more of that, especially now that the blaze have proven themselves as a major team in the top league
Pete Dyson
Why not make the best of what you have, great sport coverage, John Gaunt (Coventry lad) and use Lorna Bailey - who is SO much better than Annie and Liz!!!!
Andrew
Just a few points:
1 Get rid of the football phone ins on Monday - Thursday and replace with a different type of show each evening. For example jazz, country or comedy.
2 More alternative sport, the coverage of the Rugby and Ice hockey has been brilliant, so more of the same. Also how about the Friday phoning in just being one hour on the Sky Blues and the other hour on the other sports played in this area. Another idea is to have the phone in from different clubs around Coventry and Warwickshire are each week.
3. How about having a Countryfile type of programme for the radio. Highlighting the rural countryside in the area.
L Jones
I listened to the Late Show last night, the last one with Keithy Middleton and Runaround Sue and what transpired just confirmed what I already suspected - They are the best thing on WM! The way they dealt seriously with the breaking news about MG Rover was outstanding and then they showed their versatility by providing us all with a light hearted intro into an entertaining last hour... Which was filled with legendary Pat Boone and Gloria Honeyford. Excellent radio at it's best! The last two weeks have been a real treat and I don't know what I will do now they have finished - Please get them on your new station!
Diane Lindsay
More spoken word and more work of local (amateur)writers. I teach Creative Writing locally and never cease to be amazed at the volume of breath-taking talent that's out there - from people of all ages, backgrounds and educational experience. My oldest student is in her 80s and one of my finest storytellers is dyslexic.(Spelling isn't an issue on radio!) I'm not talking poetry that doesn't scan and story that doesn't plot here, but natural raw writng from the heart and soul - it's out there and could find the audience it deserves if someone with the relevant ability to spot it is chosen to select and/or present it.
nigel curtis
I think highlighting lesser sports played in the region will help those sports gain valuable publicity, make locals aware of the variety of sports/recreations available to sample in their area and to join, plus the added bonus of helping local clubs servive by increasing their membership aswell as increasing the health of individuals too!...e.g. 10 minutes one week on badminton including a list of clubs in the area, tennis another week, bowls another, archery and so on covering sports or recreations to suit different ages. Many locals don't even know what reacreational activities are available in their own towns....now this would be a local service.
John Wolf
Please can you remember that you cover Coventry *and* Warwickshire. Warwickshire is a mainly rural country - please don't make this station entirely focused on Coventry (as your WM opt-outs tend to be)
Dave Marr
Music from theatre and local productions in the area (including popular music) this would then act as a place to highlight whats going on thats good locally!
Dave Canley
Daz Hale sounds good to listen to - he would be good and can we call it CWR again?
Tom and Barbara - Coundon...
We've been listening to Keith Middleton this last week and what a refreshing change he is! It's like having a good friend chatting to you into the wee hours every night! June from Cov has just said that she wants him to stay on our radios late at night and she wants to start a vote - count me in! I love the way he mixes serious topics like debt management with the humourous like Malcolm Stent; the entertaining like Gordan Giltrap with the empowering like Spice Birmingham; The gorgeous Amanda Lamb (phoooaaarrrr) with the informative like the Genealogist bloke he's announced for next week... and all wrapped around great competitions and a his lovely local warm personality... Why have a late night music programme on which would be better in the ever present sport slot earlier in the evenings? Check 'em out and give us listeners what we want!!! Also could we have Lorna Bailey on in the afternoons - we think she is great too and a loyal follower of our local team!!! Up them Sky Blues!!!
John Myers, One World Link
I see that national BBC are encouraging its local stations to link with a radio sation in Africa. How about doing that as part 0f the local community link between Warwick District and Bo District in Sierra Leone. We would be able to faciltate the formation of the radio station link
Samia Khalid (aka Sami)
I am adding my support to what Ann and others have said below. I listened to 4 hours of Keith and Sue last night and they make great late night radio. I would happily go to bed with them every night! Please get them sorted for my bedtime listening ASAP. Please remember that going to sleep happy means sweet dreams, which means happy and loyal listeners and good listening figures... I am convinced K&S can deliver these so deliver them to us!!! Thanks for reading this.
DT
More about CCFC. Regular interviews, competitions, phone ins, behind the scenes,etc...
ann tubby (aka TT Annie)
The only music currently available to listen to on a Friday night is Midlands Masala, which does nor suit everybody, especially as it is broadcast over borth wavelengths and gives no alternative. Some time ago Keith Middleton used to cover the Friday night late slot, with Sue operating the phones and he gradually built up a large following. I along with others built up what could be loosely termed "a family of listeners" through Keiths show. Now that you are about to break away from Birmingham is there any possiblity that Keith could be asked to do a late night slot during the week, even if it is only for one night a week. Thank you for reading this email and I hope you can put this suggestion forward to the programme planners.
Steve in Cov
As far as what the new (2nd time around) station should feature? Quite simple:- Local, local, local! Please remember, we are not Brummies! Let's have the focus on Cov & Warks and a majority of presenters being people who are born and bred or who at least live in and are committed to the area! Actually, whilst the BBC is at it, can we go the whole hog and have Coventry and Warwickshire recognised as a distinct and separate BBC Region in its own right with its own TV news etc. as well? Now that would prove the beeb's committment to this area!

Sorry to see Tony & Julie go, but can we have Keith Middleton back on lates or at least on a show that lets him operate to his full potential. He works on other BBC local stations and used to do a cracking job on WM's late show last year. Please give us our Keith and his infectious laughter back before your figures drop!
Shirley O'Connor
The answer to your question is easy and is 2 words long - KEITH MIDDLETON! On the Late Show please so we have an alternative to WM's Jimmy Franks! Reading the other comments just remembered Norma Morgan too - she was excellent - what happened to her? I'd like her back too!
henry chinedu ugboaja
it will be lovely if u can have poets perform their art live in ur studios,or vioce records of their recitations.am a poet,in nieria, just out of the university,i studied lierature and cultural studies.
Michael Browne
I'm probably a bit late on this one but just stumbled on this page... More local magazine/community programmes are needed with local, friendly and approachable presenters. We want people who sound like a friend, are trustworthy and can tell us what's going on in the world and especially on our patch! I agree Lorna Bailey should be on air more - a local girl and good presenter too boot - I know we have Annie but we need more good female presenters on the station especially now we are losing Julie! Keith Middleton should get a good slot too... He is such a good presenter and so under-used! I loved him and his sidekick Sue on the Friday night late shows last year - They would make a great team 5 days a week. They could fill that late night slot like Tony & Julie used to. Whatever happened to Norma Morgan - She was a fantastic presenter with a lovely, warm and welcoming voice, who just disappeared off Friday nights a couple of years back. Not local but used to be a brilliant presenter and haven't heard of him for ages is Phil Holden - if you could get him that would be a brilliant move. How about more Daz Hale? He's down to earth and good to listen to - even those sad jokes! Carl Chinn - so knowledgeable and entertaining too... Less old timers like Ed Doolan, Les Ross, John Gaunt, Sport (yawn) Sally James and weird shows like the masala and prison thing on fridays.
James Hendrie
Give Lorna Bailey a full-time presenting job, she's a Coventry girl and she's a talent!
Steve
Just like to add my agreement to some of the other comments. 1) Call the station CWR
2) Less "Name a word in the dictionary" competitions
3) Less sport in the evenings
David Clough
Leamington Town Fooball are on a run of 17 games without defeat. When are we going to hear about teams like that and others and stop going on about CFC who are not getting any better. I have sent you the telephone number of a contact but we still have to tune to the Bear for a report. With the station being on the web I could listen when away from the area.
Thank you
Keith
In the morning breakfast slot, Mon - Fri, I would like a current affairs and business program. I would also like dedicated local history (as long as it's not Carl Chinn) wild life and gardening
programs.
mark odoherty
i would just like to say thank you for the fantastic coverage of local sport the bbc in coventry provides, particuarly the coverage of the cov blaze ich hockey. hopefully this will become a regular part of the programming schedule next season.Clive and the team make the airwaves come alive and it feels almost as good as being there,
Harry Proud
I would like more public input on air about local concerns.I remember on the breakfast show when Mr Linnel was prensenter more people phoned in with problems and they were acted upon.At the moment we get silly compitions [ which to be honest i do enter some times } for etc 20 pkts of Pringles and that is the only time people are put on air.We have serious issues at the moment i.e.fire cover dropping, council unrest and i feel a lot more coverage could be given to theese.Mss Othen ask,s some great questions when she does interviews and i rate her highly in this field, and this would be a lot better listening than `name me a actor/singer begining with the letter D`.Annie is a sound presenter but the compitions `urgh`Thank you for reading this,i always listen to the `brekky show` and i felt a must to comment.
David Hodgson
its great that coventry will have its own radio station. although if you dont carry on with ed doolen i will have to re-tune to 95.6. anyway all the best.
Sheepsider
I expect Bob Broly will continue But please lets have more news of clubs like Leamington football club a club that has a tean of surporters and a chairman who loves the Team and the management members.
eileen
I am sure there is a lot of us who would welcome Malcolm boyden back, I still find it hard to believe you let him go.
Nigel d'Q
Surely you are not going to stop transmitting the daily Ed Doolan programme? If so, I will be tuning elsewhere!
raymond, earlsdon
I would like a station witha few younger voices. No offence to what is currently on offer but just because you are pitching at a middle aged audience doesnt mean that we dont enjoy hearing the spirit of youth on the airwaves.
Mrs. Melanie Sleigh
Please can you include much, much more ice-hockey
coverage?
Mike Brown
New station without Ed Doolan? As Ed Doolan is such a high ratings winner for WM&CW currently, it would take some amazing programming to pull listeners over to the new Coventry station between 10 and 1. Please consider carrying the Doolan show as part of the new station! If not, there will be many people retuning to WM -- if they can. I certainly will be ... it will be interesting to see how the split affects the listening figures.
Steve Camm
Great to see investment in radio in our area. For really good local radio I still think the template was Mercia Sound between 1983 and about 88.because they involved the local community and the widest range of age groups. On the suject of presenters please use the skills of John Platt, Les Ross and Jim Lee.
An idea for justification of local radio through the night could come from the extensive night shift workers in the area, maybe you could work in partneship with big employeers piping the station into factories and offices.
Good Luck
Brian Brown
How come that non of the backroom staff appear on this web page ie Fran Daly or Valda on the Coventry frequency, i have the station everyday going to work at 1300hrs and always here them Thanks V much
M E Marshall
Response to your programme re new station: Please please if you have to have competitions make them intelligent. At present the majority are in the vein of 'give us a song with a particular word in the title' This is really boring. Lets have some clever competitions. I am not particularly well educated but these insult my intelligence. Please keep Annie Othen - she is the best presenter on WM and does nt talk down to her audience.
Tim
The name of the station really has to be CWR.In relation to Sport coverage stop introducing all bulletins with the home of the sky blues, it may be but what about the rugby spedway Blaze Borough etc.
Also its a local station when i switch on the7.30am sport headlines on a Monday, I dont want the lead story or second story to be about Man utd or Sundays premiership game etc and then have a 10 second end of buletin report on the blaze. I listen to CWR for local sport stories ie the Blaze , Borough, Bedworth Utd etc not ones about Man utd Liverpool etc. I agree with other writers there is too much sport when it is on every evening, also does every friday phone in have to be so City dominated, how about giving the other sports a break once in a while. In the evening what about music shows on Folk reggae etc something a bit different.
The breakfast show , do we really have to have sun reader level quizzes ie name a song that mentions the weather, how dull result is get halfwits with nothing better to do than hear their own voice on the radio ring up, they are not necessary has research shown they increase figures my guess gets people reaching for the off button. The Breakfast show needs to concentrate in the mainon local stories that affect local people. This mornings limerick competition on breakfast was the singular most embarrasing piece of radio I have everheard, if the new station wants to get taken serious way to go eh, limerick competitions.
Ed Doolan , no talking three hours about none issues scarng pensioners half out of their minds with scare stories.
MAGI
It would be good to hear a presenter who makes people smile such as Malcolm Boyden
Martin
Local music, writers and artists rather than football, which just drives a large number of people away. Local issues such a redevelopments, planning and protests. Some history as well.
Tony Partridge
Can the new station have content that reflects Coventry and Warwickshire. There is lots of history around our area, issues on local events, projects, local theatre, community groups etc etc.
There should be a mix of programme during the evening rather than sport each night of the week. Hope that Annies Program stays but with a little less competions.
Also Bob Brollys but with less rattle about CCFC,[it takes over the program sometimes].Could we have Trish Adodoo do a program, also Keith Middleton ,and Jim Lee do the drive time programm. The station has a wide area of coverage, but currently does not have air space to do the area justice.
A consumer program similar to Ed Doolans but not so long would be good also.
Rachel Cumella
I think their needs to be more of a focus with local radio generally on local events, and this station is an ample opportunity to encourage social awareness and support and exposure for local music and community events
David Chowen
1] a lot less sport in peak times (currently occupyiny=g the peak 7-9 slot 6 nights a week, which does not reflect the proportion of people who are sport mad!)
2] Local music, especially minority genres such as Folk, Blues, Jazz (which are not such minorities!)
3) local interest, history, etc
Zak Turner
How about a presenter who is new, enigmatic and fun ? Someone who can communicate with all and brings an experience of real enjoyment to the listener ?
PETE
I would also like to see Keith Middleton get his own show and I feel Coventry and Warwickshire should still keep Ed Doolans exelent consumer programme
Mr Brigg
The local BBC in this area was originally known as BBC CWR - the choice of the listeners. Your current output is known as CWR to some people. Go on take a vote on it and let listeners decide the new station name.
Pete Beddow
i hope you will have a new RDS radio identifier.
quicker reporting of away ice hockey games would be an improvement.
Mike
Dont forget us in Warwick! We dont just want CCFC coverage...give our local sports some airtime.
Heather
Can you link some new radio shows to BBC websites like iCan, and Legacies, e.t.c.
Sue
What about a local version of the BBC ONE show Crimewatch. You could work with West Midlands Police to run campaigns to catch criminals.
Eve
I agree with Joseph, about the TV news thingy, but before that happens make sure we get lots of coverage on Midlans Today from the Coventry studios....please.
David
What about getting some Coventry born celebrities to present their own radio shows on the new station?
Gareth
As an experiment why dont you have a flurry of half hour programmes every weekday night, each concentrating on a different genre of music (Jazz, Blues, Classical, 80's, 60's, 70's, Pop, Rock, Rap) Those that have high listening figures can be kept and extended, those that have low figures can be dropped after 6 months. Trial and error is the way to do it.
Jeff
Its really important that the rural communities in Warwickshire are not excluded or left out. When services are based in big urban centres (Coventry) the more rural areas lose out. Please, please, please dont let this happen!
Kim
I agree with Mark Lovick about Ed Doolan, most people at home between 10 and 1 each week day would miss his show. John Gaunt should keep his Saturday morning show and Rob Gurney should come back to work with Geoff Foster. What the new station needs are presenters who are as passionate about Coventry and Warwickshire as Karl Chinn is about Birmingham. I'd like to suggest a weekly phone in programme with the leaders of the local councils within the Coventry and Warwickshire area so we can phone in an ask them about issues that concern us. Maybe John Gaunt could present this programme! I'd also like a weekly 'what's on' programme so people organising local community events, amateur shows, charity concerts etc. can promote their events. Its extremely difficult for small voluntary and amateur organisations in the area to compete for publicity against the likes of the Belgrade Theatre and CV One events.
Michael Adams
Hello all. I have to agree with the comment on losing current WM programmes like Ed Doolan and Paul Franks but if the station could keep them on especially Gaunty. Also on the name CWR- I visit my aunts in East Cov and they always refer to it as CWR. BBC Coventry and Warwickshire could be a bit of a mouthful on air!
wilfinbanbury
get rid of the so called sports presenters and bring back the voice of coventey stewert linnell
ken jones
I have been a local radio enthusiast since Radio Birmingham.I rarely
listen to Commercial local radio, unfortuneately Cov. is now resorting to jingles repeated often, music, and worst of all competitions (too often}.When you have a competition asking to name anything that is white thatis really the end.Could we have a serious A.M.programme even if only for 2 hours with subject matter such as explaining how i.Local Government is now run i.e. why do we have Executives,Managers, consultants,as well as Councillors (paid and reimbursed}.Delve into the mysterious running by 'Cabinet'.What has happened to the old 'Departments' etc.etc. but please less ludicurous competitions.surely you can increase your listening figures without resorting to offering prizes.. thats advertising e.g. Roberts Radiosetc.etc.
Mr.D.Cox
I am writing concerning the presenters on BBC CWR.
Bob Brolly and Clive Eakin are despised by the fans of the club they are commentating on (CCFC).
It would be highly appreciated by the large majority of fans across Coventry & Warwickshire if you were to replace them.
Clive Eakin does not even support the club yet hosts fans phone-ins.
I for one will not be tuning into my local BBC station untill the team presenting the "SKY-BLUE" sports shows is changed,
and I know of plenty more with the same opinion.
David Clargo, Editor BBC C&W
Thanks for all your comments and do please keep them coming. I’m certainly thinking hard about the suggestions that you’re coming up with. In terms of our name, the original local BBC station here was indeed called CWR. We’ve decided the new station will be called BBC Coventry & Warwickshire, because that better sums up what we’ll be doing. We are the BBC in Coventry & Warwickshire and as well as radio, we’ll have our new open centre, some TV production facilities and of course this Where I Live website.
Joseph
I want to see a 10-minute news programme ONLY for Cov & Warwick during Midlands Today at 18:30 on weekdays.
David Howe
Stick to the name BBC CWR - tended to call it that, even when our local identity was temporarily lost to WM. Variety and promotion of local issues , through local people, is key. A suggestion would be to put up a couple of proposed programme schedules for comment.
Like the Friday night CCFC phone in,don't change it although more regular attendance by CCFC representatives would make it better.
Mark Lovick
Really chuffed I can now listen on line - be interested to know of any tie ups with current WM - I think a lot would be sorry to lose out on Doolan, but not much else (between 6am and 10pm anyway)Would still like to hear Cov Kid Gaunt on a Sat too. Also love to see Gurney back in charge of sport
michael shaw
bring back stewart linnell how about a monthly wednesday rugby programme and a crown green bowls spot friday nights
Scott Lyons
I echo Trevor Williams' comments....Keith Middleton is a great presenter, he sounds local and has something for all of his listeners. Come on BBC, give Keithy a break!!!!!
Nathan Hickton
Wasn't BBC WM for Coventry and Warwarkshire originally called BBC CWR?
JOHN OSBORNE
BOB BROLLY IS FINE, AS IS CLIVE EAKIN. LEAVE THEM ALONE. PLEASE HAVE SOMETHING FOR THE OLDER GENERATION 50'S PLUS.
Graeme Hurry
We must have more about the events in the county, you must be local for locals. Please, please less sport. It must not intrude into your general programmes. Currently we seem to have a sports station, at times I feel it should be renamed as Coventry City Football Club Radio. Not all of us are football obsessed and find football is a real turn off.
Steve Arnett
Coventry and Warks has a amazingly good quality local music scene - how about some coverage?
David Craddock
Would it be possible to have a music slot,Half hour?,one hour better, devoted to blues musid.Bo didly etc.
Chris Ramsbottom
I know this sounds a bit twee but can we have different charities spotlighted every week? There are a lot of people doing good works in the district and they deserve support.
David Clargo, Editor BBC C&W
I really appreciate the comments we’ve had so far. It’s really useful as we start to think about our new output in our new broadcast centre. I’m taking note to each and every one of them, but would really appreciate if they don’t get personal about individuals. I’m really keen to hear in general terms the types of programmes, style and music you’d like to hear. It’s always good to hear what you’d like on the new BBC Coventry & Warwickshire. So keep them coming!
Bob kennings
Get someone to replace Clive Eakin. Coverage of CCFC is a key part of the station. So get someone who is not going to make people turn away (from what used to be a good station) in their droves.
mark harrison
more coverage of minor sports other than football than at present on friday night spot
alan hopkins
Give Tricia Doodoo a programme of her own and improve the digital quality of broadcasts in the north of warwickshire
Finally can you stop Bob Brolly talking about football
Trevor Williams
I'd like penty of competitions and how about giving Keith Middleton a regular slot - his shows have something for everyone.
